Hey ya’ll. I’m Anthony. 32 nearly 33 years old guy.

Born, raised, and living in my hometown right here in Georgia. My Southern Pride still runs very deep even in times of chaos, but “Old times here are not forgotten” for me.
For a few years now I’ve found the best, most consistent information/answers to questions I’ve had about ownership and the same passion I have for Kimber specifically right here on Kimber Talk and decided I’d join y’all for good community and insight owning these beautiful firearms.

I live my life striving to be easy to love and hard to offend so don’t worry about jokes or “offending me” when adding me in here. You won’t find me on any other social/media platforms because I finally realized about 3 years ago that people I know, am related to in some cases, or have to work with make things public about themselves that I don’t wanna know about them and what I’d have to say back wouldn’t be real “popular” on there anyway. Lol. As for my other hobbies it’s basically work, church service & volunteer, Bible study, family time, and I used to be a big football fan before it became about everything but the game. Now my sports entertainment is reliving my childhood memories of Earnhardt races on YouTube. Better, simpler times for sure.

I currently own the following;

Stainless Ultra Carry II .45 ACP (EDC) Rose Grips swapped for Anodized steel “Dixie” grips from Wicked Grips.

Sapphire Ultra Carry II 9mm - Bought in 2020 because I wanted it since release in .45 ACP, but because they were disappearing and I loved the model so much I bought the 9mm model brand new unfired for $1300. I’ve never fired it myself either and probably never will because I never wanted to carry anything less than .45 ACP for defense so it’ll stay a safe queen. AND…….I now also own…..

Sapphire Ultra Carry II .45 ACP (EDC) - FINALLY after 2 years on a waitlist Bud’s let me know it was back & available for special order. SO…… as of a few weeks ago I now own this one in hand for EDC rotation with my Stainless Ultra .45 ACP. I am looking to make a grip swap for this one with an Ivory look or Ivory color (think Bel Air grips) if anyone has any recommendations?? Slim or standard grips are fine. I already have some replacement screws in hand for this piece for standard thickness officer grips.

(Fine Print) When I say EDC they’re more like “Every weekend only carry” for me because I work on federal land Mon-Fri so hopefully I wear on that Sapphire a little slower because of that. Lol

Raise Hell Praise Dale! Thanks for having me!

Patience grasshopper…I planted the seed.
Oh the seed is definitely planted and possibly taking root. I’m certainly in the family of agreeing that if you’re gonna accessorize an immaculate piece of art, you have to use immaculate presentation accessories. The last thing I wanna do is “cheapen” the look of her PVD Sapphire beauty and scroll work with subpar grips. It ain’t gotta be real ivory (necessarily) lol, but I want a classy ivory or ivory tone for it to complete the idea in my head. I’ve already got stainless grip screws with a sapphire gemstone in hand from Wicked Grips for standard size grips. They're too long for the slim factory grips setup that the came on the Sapphire though which is fine because I’m not particularly crazy about the factory grip design.

If you’ve got any ideas of where I should check to buy the look of ivory grips I’m looking for I’m all ears. I’ve hung around here long enough on threads to hope I’d hear from you as soon as I mentioned “Sapphire”. Haha.

Well, if I was buying for my Sapphire, I would search for Mammoth Ivory which has some natural designs and different colors. I think some Mammoth grips with Blue patterns would look awesome. Something like I put on my Gold Combat Limited Edition. I did some searching last night, sadly I didn't find any Blue Mammoth Ivory in a Compact size. Found several for full size. My Classic Carry Pro came from Kimber with "Bone" grips which I bought some fake Ivory for shooting and save the Bone grips for show.
I have bought from HighFigureGrips.com. Also might check Boone Trading Company. A Google search would be in order. If you've been around you probably already seen these pics but I'll post them anyway.
In the Classic Carry pic it is wearing the fake Ivory with Bone grips beside on paper.

Man, I had not seen all of them. Glad you posted em. Those Mammoth with the blue patterns are especially rugged and pretty. I’ve done some digging as well. You’re right compact market for this look is more limited. I checked out Boone and High Figure and as impressive as they are, I’m in Christmas mode right now for my human girls so the high price tag ones are gonna remain on the list, but shelved for the season at least. I want the swap because because in my opinion the Sapphire frame and slide has always looked showroom and the factory grips look more tactical print to me so I’m looking Ivory to contrast and compliment her blue beauty.
With some google searching over the last few days I made a decision this morning to purchase a set of Faux Ivory Compact 1911 (beveled cut) grips from LS Grips. I did some image searching for in-hand photos of their grips and saw them on some revolvers that actually look incredible for the price. One very unique thing I appreciated about theirs was the faux Ivory still has the glossy finish AND has some natural looking grain in it as opposed to a flat solid ivory color and their reviews were great so I figured for $50 shipped I’m giving them a shot. It’s a small business guy with a good story on his site so I figured why not? Great customer service so far and a good inexpensive way to find out if I’m even gonna love the Ivory grip look on the Sapphire with sapphire gem screws without committing to $500 grips first. We gonna find out when I get these, install them, and then I’ll finally make a new post with pics of my Kimber babies!

Hey you deserve a nice Christmas present to! Just kidding. I get it, I don’t have any little humans in the house and the grandkid little humans the boss buys for them. Good idea to buy Faux Ivory to try out before investing in the real thing. I have some faux grips for range days.
I like High Figure grips the best, I’ve bought from Jon before and his prices are a little less than most other places. I spoke with him and he is on the lookout for some Blue Mammoth Ivory raw material and will let me know when he locates some.
It is a mandatory law you must post pics of the Sapphire with the new shoes.
I think all the ivory grips I have (real or fake) are full size so I can’t really show what it would look like.
