I've only owned a Kimber since last October. Evan at that, it was an impulse purchase. I'd heard of Kimbers, heard they were supposed to be pretty good pistols. I've also spent time on Kimberamerica.com reading.

I'm trying to understand their categories and pricing structure. As an example, I'm trying to understand why MSRP for a Super Carry Ultra HD is $1,699.00 and the price of a Pro Carry HD II is $1,046.00.

Is there really $600.00 difference between them? If so, why?

Sorry to be such a noob, but I'm hoping some of you experienced Kimber users can point me in the right direction.

They are two different guns. The Super has night sights, ambidextrous safety, serrations on the front grip frame, rounded frame butt and spring housing.. It is also aluminum frame and steel slide.
The Pro Carry has standard sights, less checkering, plastic grips. straight grip frame and all steel construction along with a longer barrel and more weight.

The new Kimber catalog has a nice feature where it compares all the handguns on one page. It's posted here on the site.

Excellent. Thanks. I'd not downloaded the catalog because I wrongly assumed the web site would be better/current with a comparison chart.

Wife doesn't know I'm looking again. Ssssshhhh!

Don't know if this is in the right place couldn't find out to start a new thread so here we go.My question is can you replace the plastic main spring housing on a ss ultra raptor with a ed brown ss msh? Thanks
To answer both your questions. Yes you can replace the MSH however it may need some fitting.
As to starting a new thread, there is a box at the top left that says new thread. Just click on that. It shows up when you're in the "menu" of each section.

On a slightly different vain, why are commander size guns more expensive than full size guns. I asked that same question so the salesman that sold me my Ruger 1911 cmd he kind of shrugged and said supply and demand , im not to sure but it used to be smaller was always cheaper, or am I missing something ?

Actually, pages 8 & 9 of the 2014 catalog explains the differences very well. I'm not sure I understand the pricing logic yet, but at least I'm learning the difference between an Ultra, Ultra Plus, Pro, Custom, etc., etc.

I think if I have a chance to do it again, I'll choose either the Stainless Pro Raptor II ($1,415 MSRP) or Super Carry Pro HD ($1,699 MSRP.) From what I read they seem to be an ideal carry size, steel full size frame, which would make the 4" barrel shoot better. IMO.

Gator, you would love the SCPHD Mine is a great shooter, a little on the heavy side as I am/was used to the aluminum framed Ultras.
My carry right now is a Super Carry Ultra Plus just as Nellybelle To us its the best of both worlds full size grip, shorter barrel. Not been 1 problem with either I reckon.

Thanks for the welcome too, as for Josey Wales, its my alter ego, I shoot cowboy action and its my main outfit.
