Yeah, I got 1 pellet smoker. A camp chef. I’m an amateur and I’m trying to get better. Going to smoke a brisket this week. This will be my third one in the last 2 years I have had it. Haven’t been able to get the results I want. I think it’s because it’s an electric pellet smoker.

I guess I have been too busy to try it for the past 20 years but I just bought a smoker based on advice I got here - of all places. Welcome to Kimber Talk.

Too busy yeah, it takes like 15 hrs to smoke... I'm going to have to clear a day off the calendar to tend to the brisket. That's also why it's my 3rd time making it.

I went with electric because I don't want to tend to the meat all day. Set it and forget it. Plus I'm a newb. If I become a master of smoked meats one day I may get something different.
Pellet is for sure different than hardwood smoked meats. Unless my camp chef brand sucks and I need to drop 800 bucks on a trager. My pellet smoker doesn't give that smokey flavor I get from a hardwood smoked piece of meat. Anyone agree? Not sure if I'm doing something wrong but I stick it on 250 degrees high smoke. Used different kind of pellets. Still don't have the desired taste of smoke I'm looking for.

Whit, I wish I could enjoy it. I'm highly disappointed in how I received my new firearm from the seller. I posted in the forum about the condition mine came in. The feed ramp is corroded somehow. It came with the grease all dried up and it looked BAD. Take a look at the photos. I cleaned it up and lubed it. The ramp is still bad. I was scrubing away with my AP brush with different cleaners and even CLP. One of thr members said it could have been in water but there is no other corrosion on the firearm. Everything is clean.
Welcome from middle TN….

Okay, I know plenty of guys using Camp Chef and getting good results. It’s a matter of learning the tool. PS I cook on charcoal …. Weber Smokey Mountain Hasty-Bake Gourmet, and SnS Kettle with insert. And have great results. Build the fire, get it running where I want it, and let it cook. But I would say that you ought to be able to get great results from the Camp Chef, too. Going to send you a private note with some advice

I know tons of guys getting great results from a pellet smoker. Nothing to worry about there. I enjoy charcoal and wood, but I’m a bit on the weird side LOL

Welcome aboard there Mike from Orygun.
I don't smoke meat, don't know dick about it, but I did serve with Marines in RVN a long time ago. But I DO frequent the local BBQ shack here on a regular basis, does that count? lol

Good to have another jarhead with us.
