Good Morning, Gents!

The Good Lord decided to bless me with a little baby girl. And by that, I mean I finally got my hands on a Kimber Micro Carry. Per my previous post, my baby mama let me buy a "new daddy present" which was any gun I wanted as IL just enacted concealed carry. I ended up with a Pro Carry Crimson II, which is marvelous (granted, I can't really carry anywhere other than my car bc of the "gun-free" zones EVERYWHERE). The lady loved the feel of it and the Kimber quality, so she wanted to get one as well. We decided to get the Micro as it would be a bit easier to handle than the bigger Pro Carry.

I finally found the Micro on "gunsamerica" and called the shop in FL listed as the seller. They were a breeze to work with and the Kimber was delivered last night. I had fun breaking it down and cleaning/oiling it up. It's hilarious how small it is compared to the Pro Carry. I plan on doing a full range report as well as a video on how to break it down. Now it's just finding affordable 380 rounds.

Congrats on both those babies. I'm especially interested in your range experience with the Micro. Please report back. And is there anything more asinine than a "Gun Free Zone" sign. What it really says is " hey thugs! Good news! Law abiding citizens will be unable to protect themselves from those of you who don't give a shit about the laws anyway!" I guess that's too many words to put on a sign.

Interestingly enough, I had a conversation with the manager at the Jewel (that I formerly frequented) near my house.

I noticed the gun-free sticker on the door as I walked up and like the law-abiding citizen that I am, turned around, went back to my car and very carefully and without anyone seeing, un-holstered my Pro Carry and left it in my safe box. (Of course, all I could think about as I was walking away is "if I were a criminal, with no regard for the law, I would watch people walk up to the door, see the no gun sign and go back to their car. Then I would break into said car and steal their gun. Particularly if they are driving a nice car = nice gun (I drive a BMW))."

On my way out, I noticed the store manager behind the sales counter. I walked up to her and said, "excuse me, I noticed the no gun sign on the door, was the decision made because you don't want any guns in your store?"

Manager - "Yes, I don't want guns anywhere near my store. I can't believe people would want to bring guns with them to the grocery store."

Me - "If I remember correctly, isn't the bank in this store the most robbed bank in the whole town? As in, something you've had a lot of trouble with?"

Manager - "Yes, it's awful."

Me - "Well, good thing you have the sign on the door. Those potential bank robbers will see that sign and turn right around, knowing that can't bring their guns in because they'll want to respect the law."

Manager - "(hesitant) Yeah...I guess."

Me - "No, actually, they won't. In fact, they will be MORE likely to rob the bank over and over again because they know people like me will respect your decision to not allow good people to bring guns into your store. I won't be shopping here anymore."

(then I went to the other grocery store in town)

Me - "Excuse me, sir, I wanted to double check with you that concealed guns are welcome here. I didn't see a sign on the door and I wanted to make sure I was complying with store policy as I frequently shop here."

Manager - "Of course there is no sign on the door. I hope there are more people like you that will shop here. Keep up the good work."

Congrats on the Micro. Sweet looking little baby indeed.
As for gun free zones and Thaifighter comments. There was an article in the Detroit News late fall early winter on reports from the Detroit Police on a massive increase in car breakings near and around Ford Field during Lions games. Thieves (better known as Bad Guys.) Were targeting car for weapons as most people were coming into Detroit from the Suburbs and were not allowed to bring guns into the stadium. It seems that the loss of guns was very significant. Ever notice most gun laws and rules favor the bad guy.
Anyway, enjoy that Micro and let us know how she handles.!!!

Congrats on the new addition. I am also interested in the range report on the Micro. I'm digging the look of it and possibility of it being a back up or EDC under certain conditions.

my warm weather edc is a Smith and Wesson Bodyguard and I'm ok with it. I'm VERY tempted to change over to a Sig P238. But before I pull the trigger ( I love saying that) on the Sig I want to listen to the owners of Micros just to see if I want to go that route. The guns are very similar, the safeties are identical.

Congratulations on the new Micro Carry, I've been wanting one since Kimber first showed them 2 years ago. I finally caved in and bought a Sig P238 but would probably still buy Micro Carry if one became available. I would love to see some pictures of your Micro Carry broken down with the grips removed. If your interested, I have been shooting Freedom Munitions .380 100gr. FMJ reloads with great success. It's a very clean burning ammo that you couldn't tell from new. As long as you don't live in Chicago they will ship to your home but you have to email them a copy of your FOID card and drivers license.

I think the most asinine of asinine is when soldiers, trained to use guns to protect the rest of us, are told that they can't have a gun on the base where they live and work to protect themselves and their fellow soldiers. *See Fort Hood. Gun-Free Zone and site of the last two mass shootings. That it happened the second time is unbelievable. Whoever made that law should be brought up on charges.

To make it more asinine, in Georgia the military is treated similar to police officers, so CWL is not required. Soldiers can carry in Georgia just for being a soldier. But when they get to the gate going on post, they'd better not have it. Pretty stupid if you ask me.

It's like taking out an ad that says "We are sitting ducks at this location. If you want to shoot somebody who is guaranteed to be defenseless...this is the place!"

Crap. My blood is boiling again.

"Particularly if they are driving a nice car = nice gun (I drive a BMW))."

So does this mean all others driving, Honda, GMC, Ford, Etc.,
have to trade down to CAP GUNS?

My 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 4X4 is a rough old girl, but she runs really well and not having a truck payment helps with my gun/ammo habit. :D :D
