Just purchased Kimber Montana in 300wsm and want to know how to remove the base plugs so that I can mount the bases. Must they be punched out from the inside or can they be removed externally?
I have never seen a rifle with plugs in the holes. I would think that if they are there, they should be screwed out, because otherwise the threads could get damaged.
Welcome to the forum from northern Illinois muleskinnerbob. I don't own a Kimber rifle but it's clear from looking at the pictures on Kimbers website the scope bases mount on the receiver not the barrel. You can try asking where you bought the rifle or give Kimbers customer service a call......
Called Kimber today. Said use 1/16 inch Allen wrench to remove plugs. Worked like a charm. Remember to save the plugs for use in the future if ever needed.
