Had my lgs install a set of Tru glo Tfo's on my Kimber Pro Carry II (tg131kt). Gun shoots low at 10 yards. Tru glo tech support says the front sight is tall than stock and will replace it for free if I send them just the slide. Is that wise or shall I tell them to send me a lower front sight and let my lgs install it. My lgs did mention that it's spot on a 3 yards but low beyond that. What should I do. Go the Kimber route or get the lower front sight and let my lgs swap it out. Other option would be to get a set of mepros. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks

If you have a choice it would probably be faster if they shipped the new front sight to you and your gunsmith installed it. If it was my gun I'd go with the Meprolight Tritium night sights.

I don't blame you for not wanting to throw away good money, there's nothing wrong with Tru Glo sights I was just saying that if I needed a new set of sights I would prefer the Meprolight Tritiums.

I love TruGlos and if they offered to fix it, I'd let them. Send it Priority and you'll get it back quickly- I hope. I think the TruGlo TFO's are much nicer than the Meprolights, and if I could replace the Meps on my P99 with Truglos, I'd do it today.

Kimber told me that they set the sights for 25 yards. This is s carry gun not a target gun. They told me if I sent the slide back all they were going to do is verify that it shoot on target at 25 yards. Not very helpful. Guess I'll try a set of mepros.

I'm a little confused, you had your LGS replace your factory sights with a set of Tru Glo TFO that are shooting low. You also say you don't want to throw good money away but you're now thinking of having Kimber install a set of Meprolight sights? Why not have your LGS just replace the Tru Glo front sight, you said you wrote to Tru Glo, have you heard back from them yet?
Do you know the MSRP for a set of Meprolight sights is about $130.00?

Hmmmmm.......

Just a thought to bare in mind: You are hitting 2" low at 10 yards. Target shooters want centered 3" groups at 25 yards. However, for "social work" (defensive shooting) all you need is to hit a 10" diameter target (vitals), affectionately referred to as "Minute of Scumbag"!!!!!:eek::eek: I guarantee you that an attacker will not be able to tell if you hit 2" low or not. He will not be involved in scoring your target, if you know what I mean!!

While hitting exactly where you are looking is gratifying at the range, it is not as important as being able to hit center mass (that 10 inch diameter vitals target area) of a full size silhouette at 10 yards!!! Interesting enough, most people tend to shoot high when they do so under pressure!!!! A good defensive shooter is not necessarily a good target shooter. There is a huge difference in the reasoning and criterion for each type of shooting. Nobody ever died because they dropped 10 points in a match. If you miss center mass of an attacker, it may cost a whole lot more than 10 points!!!:eek::eek:

My $.02 worth!!!
