I had the opportunity to play with the Savage 10-FP-SR and a Remington 700 SPS Tactical AAC. Both rifles were .308. Both are nice rifles. They are the competition for the Kimber 84M LPT.
I have to say that the Kimber seemed so much better in the fit and finish dept. Of course, it should, but it was really noticeable side by side. Everything just seemed to be fit together, lock into place better, not movements, etc. Granted, people work on the Remingtons and Savages and replace parts, tune them up, glass bed them and do all kinds of cool things to them, but the Kimber is pretty impressive right from the factory.
