This is today's target. 100 rounds at 25 ft with a Pro Carry II. I know it isn't good shooting by a marksman's standards but as a beginner, I'm seeing some improvement.

Soon very soon.We went to a pub today that allows smoking and we smell like an ashtray.Gigi is in the shower and I figure since I'm making a fire, what's the point of me taking one since I will smell like smoke again anyway..Wii bowling starts after a chic flick she rented.{yee-freaking-haw}Gotta do what a mans gotta do.

Haha. I'm not sure I could do a smile, but I did shoot a second target where I tried different things. Head shots. Shooting fast. Shooting some at about 75 feet. Obviously that target is all over the place.

Depends on what she's wearing after the shower. ;)

Suggest you take one too. The effort/reward ratio is to your advantage.

Strip can be a very fast game when one is not just willing, but eager to lose!

Here is a shot with a mag for scale. One thing I think is interesting is that the shot on the lower left was, I think, either the second or the third shot. The first was dead center. I keep thinking if I concentrate enough I can get them all in the center ring. Hasn't happened yet, but it always seems to be the second or third shot is the stray. Not sure why. I also think it is odd that several misses are upper left and in a straight line across 45 degrees. The first time I shot the gun, six shots were in a line straight up and down just inside the left edge of the smallest circle and one was off lower left.

Tensing up a bit maybe?
Try loading just one or two rounds in your first mag, lay the gun down and step back for a few. If you're looking for a trophy target this can help a lot. And...perhaps take notice of your breathing when firing. I fire at the end of a long exhale..works for me! Overall real good shooting there!

I bet it is tensing up. That would explain why my first shot is the best and the second is the worst. After the recoil of the first shot, it seems natural to want to grip tighter in expectation of the kick.

I try to breath naturally. I'm shooting steady about a second or two apart so I'm pretty sure I 'm not holding my breath. I'll probably get some instruction soon too.

Good observation. Thanks.

Sure.
Your second or two apart is too fast for me. But I'm the exception at the range normally. I start my range time with 2-4 rounds in each mag to warm things up and to settle down. I get so excited driving to the range I can barely wait to get there so I need the extra time to get focused. Even then my shots are 4 seconds between at a minimum.
A few years ago just before closing I watched this guy 6 or so benches down shred the center of a 3" target from 20 yards. He would fire 2 rounds set the weapon down and sit for a moment. This guy was GOOD. We talked, he told me some of the best advise as our personalities seemed the same. "Stay calm, take your time, make every round count". I have used less ammo ever since, and my accuracy, although not perfect, improved tremendously.

Admit it PorscheVille, you did that target with a shotgun and buckshot, not a pistol!!! Nice one shot grouping for a 12 gauge!!!:D:D:D:D

Just kidding! Nice shooting. Most shooters wish they could do that well!!:cool: Keep it up!!

1 second apart is probably overstating it...but 2 to 3 seconds is probably about right. I try to line up the sights and squeeze in a gentle steady rhythm so I'm neither rushing nor overthinking it. But mostly, my Kimber is so good it practically shoots itself! I just stand there and admire it!
