An issue has surfaced with my Solo where the front sight moves out of position. With little effort, I can remove it completely by hand. I have returned the slide back to Kimber for warranty work and was wondering if anyone else has had this problem?

Hey Warthog, I am having the same exact problem. I can slide the front sight from the left to the right with just my fingers....... I put a little blue locktite under it this evening so we'll see it that helps at all.... Rather not send it back to the factory to make friends....;)

I also considered loctite and decided that they needed to fix it proper. Otherwise, I would probably be working on it for the life of the gun. Either the dovetail is too big, or the site is too small. Their QA/QC folks need to see these types of returns so they will be aware. Whether they do anything to fix the issue is dependent on how many like this are being returned.

as noted in my introduction a minute ago, I just brought home a new Solo and quickly noticed the same thing...mine won't slide completely out but probably could without much effort. Never had the chance to shoot it...I think it'll go back to the dealer and I'll bring home something else! Not a Happy Camper!

Mine on my custom was loose and the gunsmith took a mallet to the dovetail saying the tritium site was milled to small most likely .... It doesnt move currently by hand but it might after enough shooting... anyone know if it is a possibility? ?

I fired 72 rounds through my Solo today. The front sight is on tight and shooting a little to the left. A little correction is needed on the the line up, but I'm satisfied. 48 to 56 of the rounds were handloaded 115gr round nose.

Loose Front Sight Kimber Solo

I feel your pain. I just bought a Solo. Took it to the range and I was dead on. I was ecstatic how good I was doing. Then went back twice more and I could not hit an elephant at 7 yards. That's when I realized the front sight was dancing from side to side.

I called Kimber and spoke with Customer Service, a guy named Coltin, very proper and professional, and he sent me a pre-paid label to send it back to get fixed. I also complaint about stove piping. I only used Federal Hydra Shok and I swapped magazines but every other shot it would stove pipe. I went through 7 or 8 boxes of Hydra Shok 147 grain and I had to constantly remove the magazine and clean the obstruction.

Very frustrating. I bought Kimber cause I have a Tactical Entry II and it flawless but this Solo really has me reconsidering Kimber's quality. I own three Rugers and they're flawless. My S&W Performance Center 1911 is perfect. My Beretta PX4 is awesome. Even my Kel-Tec PF9 is right on the money but this freaking Kimber Solo is a piece of ...

Hopefully went I get it back 4 to 6 weeks from now, I would have a weapon I can stake my life on. Otherwise I'm selling it and staying away from Kimber.

Same issue

I just purchased a solo the other day. same thing happened. all my shots were going right, and i was like really. i noticed the front sight was all the way over and i could move it back and forth. i toook it back to the shop and they did not have one to swap it out with and said it would take up to a month, maybe longer to get back from Kimber. So i got my money back. good luck.
