Looks like I need a magazine edjimacation here. I picked up an Ultra carry. What I was looking for was an 8rd magazine, preferably a flush mount or one with a small bump plate so I ordered Chip McCormick's 14132s which I thought would fit the bill. I just got them today and dry fit them. Not what I wanted.

This is what I got:

So my questions are these.
  • Is there such a thing as an 8rd magazine for an Officer's model or am I SOL?
  • Does anyone need a set of brandy new 8rd Compact magazines or have something like I am looking for they want to swap?

With my Pro Carry II I have Kimber ProTacs and am not a fan. They are hard to get into the gun with the 8rd loaded.

Any help is appreciated.

SOL! I don't think there is a 8rd magazine for our Ultra's. I could be wrong. I use a flush 7rd Kimber in the pistol while CC'ing and use two KimPro 8rd as spares. Yes they would stick out if in a defense situation I had to use a second or third magazine. I have not bought any of the Chip M magazines.
P.S. I really like your new Stainless, I want one too.

The Ultra size guns use the short frame and require 7 round magazines, I don't think they can make a short magazine hold 8 rounds but we all know I've been wrong before. I'd give Wilson Combat a call and ask one of their tech's.

I think this might be the way I am going to go. I will order a Chip M 7rd for the gun itself and carry the 2 8rders as spares.

This is kind of off topic, but when I carry my Glock 26 which has 10 round mags, my spare mag is always a G19 15 rounder or a G17 17 rounder. I'd do what you're talking about with your Ultra.

Over the years many companies have produced magazines that held more than the standard number of rounds. This is usually accomplished by reducing the spring tension/strength. As one might imagine, that results in a lot of issues with FTF, especially with the last couple rounds.
Apparently Wilson still makes theirs. If you decide to purchase them. please, for your own well being, put 2 or 3 hundred rounds through them before you trust them anywhere but the range.

I have some 8 round Chip McCormick mags and they are made to fit flush in a full size 1911, not the Ultra. As has been stated above, they will work great as a reload!! ;);)

However, by employing the "Stat Wars Method" you can make an 8 rounder fit flush in your Ultra.
