Well that really sucks! Whenever you have to return anything for a recall it's inconvenient, but it happens. That little hiccup wouldn't stop me from buying one if I was so inclined. The good news is Kimber's on top of it.

I have had several guns go back for a recall. I had a Springfield XDS 45 that had a recall the day after I bought it, might explain the sale. They sent a high capacity magazine when the gun was returned for the inconvenience. Thompson Center had a recall on my 308 bolt action. They fixed it quickly. I don’t remember if they did anything extra. I’m pretty sure I had at least one more go back, might have been an M&P, I can’t remember. Hopefully Kimber does something for you inconvenience.

I wouldn't get too excited about it. If you have a Mako that you like, and Kimber wants to make it even better, then what's the downside?

I bought a Glock in the early 90's. Within a year they sent me a letter announcing a recall that had something to do with the trigger. Meh. I had a good gun, so I didn't care, and I threw out the letter. Twenty years later, the gun was still perfect, but I began to think that my prior decision might have been hasty. I called up Glock and they told me, "Sure! We can perform the recall work and the other refinements we've implemented in the past twenty years."

Whether it's guns, cars, iPhones, or bikes, better is usually... better.

About that... Sure everybody has recalls and it's just one of those things and their customer service is great and it doesn't really mean anything and...

Kimber keeps letting product out the door with quality issues. A major recall of their newest offering only a couple of months after it hits the market doesn't help the reputation they're building for themselves as a high-priced, quality gun that is just high priced.

This isn't a rant against Kimber - I love my Micro 9 and I'm jonesing for an Ultra - but I'd sure like to see Kimber tackle the quality issues at the factory.

Similar story with my Glop gen2 17. The difference is that I didn't know about a recall and kept shooting it for a decade (and many thousands of rounds) until the trigger mechanism failed in 2005.

The wife and I took a day trip to Glop in 2019 to have the night sights replaced on my Gen3 19 (originals ran out of glow juice). They fixed it up in a few minutes while we were in the Glop waiting room. I was surprised when the guy came out and wanted to go over the list of things that had been changed/updated. Of course I paid for the replacement Trijicon sights but this list was no charge. The guard (security is tight) gave the wife and I each a bag of Glop paraphernalia when we exited the gate.

My new Mako was delivered to the dealer and before I could even pick it up I got another email telling me that a refund had been issued to my account due to the gun not actually having been put in my hands and had to be returned to Kimber. The biggest bummer is that no one, even Kimber, can give me a timeline on when i will be able to take delivery of a new and improved Mako. They said it could be as long as 6 months. Bummer.

Dang, they got them all over in Gun shops here in Michigan. I see them everywhere I go.

You might want to look again cause they are pulling them off the shelves and sending them back to Kimber as of Tuesday. The 3 biggest Kimber dealers down here in the DFW area have removed them from their websites as out of stock.

My shooting buddy bought one two weeks ago, he got lucky his serial isn’t on the list. Mine isn’t on the list, I’ve had it for a while now.
