I’m new here as well as a new(er) Kimber owner & am having a few issues with my new / never fired Micro 9 Rapide. I’ve bought & shot a std. Micro 9, but saw the Rapide, bought it & gave the original to my Dad. The orig. was amazing, no issues & dead-on at 25yds+. The new one tho: CAN the bottom grip extension be removed? I have taken out the small screw, but that’s all I can find unless it is glued in place. I’m just afraid to pull on it and break it. I bought an eight round mag & just want to see if it will fit because it won’t with the grip extension in place. Also the slide lock does not work. You pull the slide back and the locking lever does not go up into place. It’s almost like something is blocking it. I’ll probably end up having to send it back to Kimber and have them deal with the slide not locking issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and have a great week.

I know of one of the other members grinded the pinky extension Off. I had a Rapide also had issues. Magazine was dropping out after each shot & finish was flaking off On slide & trigger. I sent it back to Kimber they refinished slide & fixed the other issue. I bought it on impulse did shoot nice but was to small for my hand. I sold it immediately for $ 40.00 more than I paid. Kimber is superb when it comes to taking care of their customers. Call them get a RMA will have the gun back in a week from when they receive it.

Welcome @NickFrizz954rr

When you pull the slide back the locking lever has to be manually pushed up to lock unless there is an empty mag inserted.

Regarding the mag well extension. I tried to get mine out too with the same results. I think it may be glued in place.

I modified a standard 8 shot mag to fit the mag well extension.

Thanks Paul. Sending it in to have them give it an eval. looks like my only option w/o voiding my warranty. The slide lock actually worked ONCE this morning while giving it a couple tries, but then I couldn’t get it to work again. Thanks again for your help.

Thanks Chuck. I absolutely will. Sorry it took a few days to respond. Work has been crazy hectic lately. Going from 8hrs/day - 7 days/week to 14hrs/day - 7 days/week is taking its toll. Thanks again for your help.

Thanks Argee. When I push up on the slide lock (with the spaces lined-up of course) it’s almost as if something is “blocking” the lock from moving upward into place to hold the slide in it’s locked-back position. I’ve put avg. to extreme force pushing upward while manipulating the slide back & forth just to cover all aspects of what if & what could be happening & no matter what I do I can’t get it to lock open. It did however WORK (lock open) for me once this morning while trying some more, but couldn’t get it to duplicate it afterwards. In order to not void my warranty I may have to send it in to Kimber to have them give it an evaluation. Thanks also for the pics of the extension vs magazine. May be my route to take on that one. Again thanks for your help & feedback & hope everyone has a great week.

Wow... that's a new one. That certainly isn't right. I would definitely get a-hold-of Kimber C S and let them guide me on what to do. I'm looking at my all pistols trying to figure out what would cause that. PLEASE do share what your findings are.

Will do. I’d like to post a video clip, but if it won’t let me I’ll at least put up some pics of what’s going on. Thanks again.

I'm not sure why it won't let you post a video. @Chuck43 could better answer that question. Pics would be great.

@NickFrizz954rr what did you ever find out?
Still in Colorado (working). Should be back home next week…hopefully. I work 14-16hr days 7 days a week while I’m out of State/Country. Hell, even when I’m home I still work seven days a week but it’s primarily just 12-14 hour days. I’ll hopefully have an answer by next weekend. Sorry for the delay & thanks for everyone’s help/interest. I’m really trying guys…winning The lottery is my long-term goal, but for now yeah, work sucks ha ha. 😳
