After pulling some time in layaway, and trading/selling a few other guns, the Wilson Combat ACP compact 9 that I posted about a couple months ago finally came home! Got 100 rds through it so far and it’s been 100%, as it should be! Just got to get the “nut” behind the trigger dialed in to use its full accuracy potential!!!

Well then, now back in town again with everything unloaded and stowed, I see that our buddy Stockmaker has been having some grand fun! Nice score there buddy! Once you handle a WC pistol, that degree of quality of "feel" just burns into your good memory data bank. They're great guns, and I know you'll enjoy the chit out of yours.

After reading all the posts in this thread, more congrats are due for Rama Lama with his new SFX9 non-rail WC acquisition!. You'll love it quickly RLD, those guns shoot like a house afire, and are more accurate than anyone I know could possibly hold. Amazing performance from a 3.25" barrel, at least it was for me. My first-shot target is below in case you missed my earlier post. This is indeed a double-stack, but the grip circumference is actually LESS than the 1911. Read the piece about the design on Wilson's website if you haven't already. While mine was being built, I laid in an assortment of 10-rnd flat bottom, 10-rnd with pinkie extension, and some 15- rounders for spare carry, so feel set 'for now'. You'll want to consider getting some early too, as you're really going to want to go shoot it soon after it arrives.

First day out, first shots fired. My 9mm carry load was Hornady 124gr XTP HP's at 15 yards:

A sidenote; this pistol ate virtually everything I fed her over a weeks time, any factory offering in any bullet shape, including some boutique HV loads with questionable nose profiles, and any of my handloads with all bullet profiles. Absolutely ran 100% the entire week, no matter how fast I shot it, or how slow....didn't matter at all.

The sights were pretty much spot-on. Despite their barrel length, like the Kimber Ultra, they're still more accurate than most of us can shoot, and that includes me. So with WLW working on my new lined Predator OWB rig, the package will soon be complete. By the way, the WC SFX9 3.25" fits perfectly in my Milt Sparks VM2 IWB rig, so that saved me another buck-sumthin'. Any holster intended for the 1911 Officer will fit.

Just for grins, here's a size comparison with a Kimber Ultra CDP, Wilson Combat SFX9, and a Micro 9.

At this point in time, we've got some real bonaroo choices in terms of small, potent EDC's. All happy here.
Now that is an awesome line up! I honestly like the CDPII best out of those three

Thanks, I like 'em too. All get carried, all get shot, all are 100% reliable with factory or my handloads or they go down the road. But the Kimber CDP lineup are indeed good-looking pistols.

We all like a good-looking gun. Kimber puts out some very attractive pistols. But when I ordered and spec'd out my Wilson carry SFX9, I wanted it "all business", no fluff, no shine, all matte black. I almost went with a black nitrided barrel too, but wanted a bit of contrast. The finish is Wilson's Black Armor-Tuff, hard, and does not reflect light whatsoever. It's almost invisible on the nightstand at night, only the tritium sights give away it's location. The shiniest part of this pistol is the feed ramp that is so smooth and shiny it appears to be smooth chrome, factory polished like a virtual mirror. Needless to say, there has not been a feeding failure of any kind (or any other for that matter).

Coming from an engineering and machine shop background, I was very impressed with the degree of precision machine work displayed on this carry pistol. An example is the muzzle area where the barrel transitions to the recoil plug and frame front. There is no perceptable seams that can be felt, it's all literallly as smooth and perfect as a human could produce.

Wilson offers about any finish imaginable on their 'built' guns, two-tone, silver, shiny, dull, anything you want. But those options should exist for a pistol in this price range. I, like many here wish that the Kimber 'Custom Shop' was indeed a true custom shop so we could spec out some sweet semi-custom pistols and pay accordingly for the service. But alas, the 'Custom Shop' moniker is only a marketing tool for Kimber. Most of us would pay for true Kimber "custom" builds, I know I probably would.
