I love my Solo as a conceal carry gun. I love the safety, I love how it feels, I love how close/easy the slide release is and I love the conceal carry melt. Now...what I would love is if Kimber would make a full-size or at least compact size version of this gun for range and home protection. I know they have the pro carry etc but they do not have the same feel. If they could give the solo a larger grip and a longer barrel with a rail I think they would have another great gun.

Welcome, I am happy with the Solo's size, although I wouldn't mind a slightly bigger grip.
If I want a bigger gun I carry a SC Ultra Plus.

Have fun and keep us posted how your solo performs.

If they made all the changes you suggested the feel of the gun would completely change. Kimber already makes over 100 different models, as Josey Wales suggested check out the super carry line, they're my favorite.

I feel your pain! Because I live in a very warm climate, carrying a large gun is very inconvenient. After doing alot of shopping I settled on the S&W Bodyguard .380L as my summer carry. Is it an enjoyable gun to shoot? Hell no! It's DAO and the trigger pull lasts longer than a Julia Roberts movie. It's like driving a car with a clutch that is just about to go on you, you wait forever for it to actually shoot. But I took it to the range and shot it, and shot it, and then I shot it some more. I still don't love the gun but I am used to it and it's surprisingly accurate from 25 - 50', the laser is spot on and the gun is slender and light. My advice on the solo is to shoot 300-400 rounds until you feel comfortable with it. BTW, in the cooler months my carry is my CDP2 . . . love that gun.

Except for the rail, you almost described a Browning Hi Power. Sorry, couldn't help myself.

Oh... and welcome to the Forum.
