Here's a new target Mr. Chickadee dreamed up & fabricated. Planning on using a shot timer (free app on the phone) to set up a little competition between us.

Very excited to see how well it holds up! :D

Very nice. What are the targets made of?

Nice work Mr. Chickadee the only problem is that a couple of poorly aimed shots will do some real damage to that wood frame.

A replacement 2x4 may be cheaper than a good steel deflector.

Targets are plywood -two 3/4 inch pieces glued together & then cut into 5 inch squares.
With them sitting loosely on the cross beam, there should be enough cross-grain in those two pieces to hold together, at least for the weekend.

'Yup' - direct quote from Mr. Chickadee.

There is a 'sacrificial' strip of plywood on the front of the support piece. We don't expect it to last for more than one trip - as long as we have fun! Modifications may be made if it works well.

That's our hope! Maybe we'll start with 9mm & .380 to give it a fighting chance. :D

I really like the way it knocks down with the peg and mortise.

So it's 5'5"?

Most of the new 4-door trucks only have 5'+ beds. My old Dodge has a 6'6" bed. My old Dodge 1 ton had a 8'+ bed 4x8 plywood laid nicely between the wheel wells and didn't tough the tail gate. But in to day's world, I'd like to have a 4-door truck with all the fancy trimmings.

Yes. It's listed as a 5' bed. I could have had the 'full length bed' option, but didn't really want to have to park that every day.

I Like It!!

Yeah, he's a good builder! He even measured my truck bed to make sure the long piece would fit!
You go Mr. Chickadee!! Ya'll have fun with that this weekend!!! If it gets torn up too much, it can just become part of the campfire. There's nothing better than target toasted marshmallows!!:D:D:D

So ....... It held up better than either of us hoped for! :D

We only destroyed 4 of the plywood targets (had several spares along just in case) & also the support plank. The side pieces survived for another trip!

Started with the 9mm's, then moved up to the .45's & also the 'scary black rifle'. Had a great time using the shot timer app on Mr. Chickadee's phone to see how fast we could knock down all 4 targets.

Mr. Chickadee's best: 4:84 in 5 shots with his Springfield TRP
My best: 5:25 in 4 shots with my Sig P226

We also shot some other targets - most notably was an old crappy dental machine from my practice & also a 'retired' hard drive.

Ammo count:
200 rounds reloaded .45
150 rounds FM 9mm
150 rounds FM .223
approx 80 rounds various HP in .45
