I need a CC gun.

I have a Sig P229, but am afraid of the weight...maybe it stays in the night stand for home defense...

Cant help but think I want the Ultra CDP II with Crimson, every time I see one I drool down my shirt......but I hear it is heavy.....and then a three inch barrel with a .45.....big recoil?


So I ask for your thoughts on a CC weapon......don't fret over money (no I am not Mr. Rich$), but when it comes to protecting my family, I am not going to let $$ make the decision (with in reason of course).

Kimber Ultra CDP 25 Oz empty mag.
No big recoil,
Try one you'll love it.... I have a SCP HD 35 Oz 3 Oz more weight than your SIG I prefer the aluminum framed Ultra.

I don't know what you're looking for as far as weight goes but the Ultra CDP II w Crimson Trace grips weights 28 oz with an empty clip in it. Your Sig P229 is around 32 oz, I don't know if that helps.

OK, I've been beat out too but my weight for the Kimber includes the Crimson Trace Grips.

Welcome from NY. anything as long as your comfortable. its not unusual for me to carry my Colt king cobra in the winter. its heavy but I don't mind the weight.

You've already got the stats, so welcome to the forum!! Have you carried your Sig? If so what type of holster are you using? Do you have a good gun belt? There's a lot of factors involved in carrying other then the weight of the firearm.

Welcome to the forum. I am impressed to learn that the Kimber is only 25oz. My 9mm XDs is 23oz and the .45 is 21.5oz.

When you do, wear it alot, especially at home. Getting comfortable with it on your hip will also make you comforted.

Assuming that very light weight, extreme reliability, concealment and stopping power are all important, maybe a J-Frame Smith & Wesson is an option. The 340PD is only 11.4 oz. and a 357 Magnum has pretty respectable stopping power. Or maybe in addition to a 1911!

We had two S&W J frames. One hammerless, one with hammer. Shooting .38 +P was the worst shooting experience I've ever had. Sold them and bought a G27 and G23. Much better shooting guns. Very reliable.

How about a Sig P239?It's ideal for CC,it's reliable,and you can chamber it for 9mm,357 SIG,or .40.
