Just picked up a new Solo Carry Duo-Tone. Got it home, cleaned and lubed. Headed to the range tomorrow to put some rounds through it. So far I love it, I just hope I have a good one that functions properly. I REALLY wish it would take 115gr ammo, I got a smoking deal as a partial trade for some other stuff, but will hold of on the 115gr stuff for now. Will post range results tomorrow. How can I tell the made date of my solo?

Congrats on your new Solo, make sure you followed the assembly directions and you should have a great day at the range. My solo loves Hornady custom 147gr XTP, it is very accurate at 12 yards. My solo shots everything I put in it but 124-147 gr bullets are a major improvement over 115gr bullets. Enjoy

I purchased a box of 147gr PDX1 at the store when I bought it. The indoor firing range in our town is two blocks from the store that I bought it from, and I had time to go, but I wanted to come home and clean it real good before taking it to the range. I came across a good price on some factory 124gr ammo, so I bought 300 rounds of it, the went ahead and got 2 boxes of 124gr +p gold dots. Weather permitting, I plan on going to the range tomorrow and putting it through its paces. Maybe get in a few through the G42 while I'm at it. I got antsy this evening, so I cut some grip tape sections and put some on the front and back. It feels allot more solid grip wise now.

Is there a difference on the dates made? I don't know if they made some changes along the manufacturing process.

There's not a single photograph of this mystery gun.

Wow, I thought the G42 was small, but that solo is tiny.

Obviously the Solo is more attractive (yep, I'm a Glock lover, but I'm not blind.)

IF the Solo will function flawlessly, then I will say its better looking. All I care about is reliable function and decent accuracy. The Glock has both so far.

And that's why I love Glock, the utilitarian handgun.

But I wish more 1911s took up space in my safe.
