Hello guys. I received my new Smith & Alexander Mag Well today after a week long wait. I looked at every one available and choose this one for a few reasons. First was the idea that it was 1 piece. Second it had to be Stainless Steel, and third I wanted the end to be rounded. Smith & Alexander fit all the requirements. The only thing I had a question on was the finish. Most pics on the internet made it look not no good. I figured I would polish it when I received it. To my surprise the finish was Way better then I expected. I did not even have to touch it and it looks like it came with the firearm. Installation was a snap, and it fit perfectly with no modification at all. It functions perfectly. Cost was $74.95. Now all I have to do is shoot the gun. I will give my report after Thursday's trip to the range.

Looks very nice. Manual safety functions ok? I only ask because of some other reports from folk who thought their new MSH needed fitting a little because it rubbed on the safety slightly.

How's that rounded butt feel? Change your grip much?

Two more photos. Wilson Combat Mag is a must for this mag well. The stock Kimber mag is too flush for a grip. Next up nite sites. I will be ordering in a day or two. Then a trip to my gunsmith for installation.

Insta-Gator, everything is working fine, all functions including safety's. My grip feels very good to me right out of the box and I love the rounded butt for conceal carry. I really liked the Master Carry Kimber's but not the added weight. The rounded butt almost makes it like a Master Carry.

That looks awesome. Looks like you have a Wilson Combat Elite Tactical magazine too? I also bought a MSH mag well. I wanted a machined steel one-piece model with 30-line checkering, which looks traditional to me, and similar to the original checkering. I haven't installed mine yet because I'm waiting on grips that shipped Thursday. The finish on mine looks great too. I'm glad the S&A mag looks better than their pics....their pics stopped me from buying theirs even though the comments from buyers was good. Here is a pic of the one I bought from Wilson Combat.

PorscheVille, The Wilson Combat Mag you have is a work of Art. It was about $100.00 more than the S&A one. The difference is Wilson Combat is machined and S&A is cast. I too am SO glad the finish is better then I expected. I would have done something to make it look better if the need it. Can't wait to see yours installed.:) Too bad my grips have to stay.:( It is what it is. I really like having a laser for many reasons, so those grips have to stay.;)

I ordered sights today. I bought Heinie Straight Eight Tritium sights. I like the idea of aligning two dots (8) rather than three(ooo). And they have a cocking shoulder.

That Smith & Alexander mag well is really sharp looking, it gives the heel of the frame a nice smooth look.

Thanks to Kimsey for his posts and PM. I just ordered the one-piece stainless magwell with the arched backstrap (GMAS) from S&A. Will ship on Monday. I'm looking forward to putting a round (arched) butt on my flat bottom girl (CCCII). $86 with shipping. I really shouldn't be spending any more money on gun stuff right now, but ...

Hi, my name is Insta-Gator (Gary) and I'm addicted to guns 'n stuff.

FYI, these are the NightHawk grips I bought from Robert here on this site. Note that they are flush with the bottom of the pistol. Looks like something that might really complete the look, fill the gap between the grips and the magwell.

Just something incase you have more cash burning a hole in your billfold. :D
