Well, I did it. Got my new Super Carry ultra yesterday and am really excited to give it a try. After seeing that gun, I had to have it and I can say I am really pleased with how it looks and feels. The rest remains to be seen after some range time.:D

I have the Super Carry Pro, it was hard deciding between the ultra and the pro, I love they way they fit my hand. Nellybelle gave you some good advice, follow the break in instructions in the owners manual. I think most complaints come from guys that failed to follow the break in procedure.

I expected to have plenty of break in problems with my Super Carry Custom HD. I guess I had spent too much time listening to the haters. I now have a little over 2,000 rounds through it, and have NEVER had a malfunction of ANY kind. I actually didn't notice any differences from break-in to broke-in, because the gun has been flawless from the very first round. Here's hoping you have similar luck, but if not, be patient, show it some range love, and you may just make a friend for life.

Thanks for the encouragement

I really don't expect any problems and if I do it will be a first . I have three other 1911's and other model pistols and have really never had any problems with any of them. I FL'd her real good today and am ready to hit the range. I was waiting on that clever little take down tool (plastic one) and it worked like a charm.

What holster?

Which brand/model holster do you recommend for carry. I want to carry on the outside. This has probably been discussed somewhere else but would appreciate your input.

Beautiful weapon. I think my next one will be a Pro Carry +. For outside the belt, try a DeSantis mini slide. Small, good fit, great retention and not frills.

No JOY!!

It has rained, the wind has been blowing 30 MPH, and there is always something else that needs to be done. I have yet to fire my new Super Carry and I am really getting annoyed. Now, the weather man says the next few days are crap with rain and wind and temp is going to drop into the 40's. Carma is kicking my butt for some reason. Maybe my wife found out about my new love.:D

I feel your pain. I too, want to run out and "put a few rounds through it" as soon as I get it home. Why else buy one? Right?
As to the weather, keep it. Please.

Yes it's nice to look at, but I want to hear it go BOOM".
The weather sucks, but we do need the moisture to break the drought we've had the last couple years.

I am PISSED!!!!!

Finally, I got to take it to the range and put my first 100 round thru it and it worked perfectly. 50 rounds Winchester and 50 round of TulAmmo. Not one problem.
I come home and break the gun down to clean it and as I slide the rail off a piece drops out. The ejector is broken off. WT__? I can't believe it. First hundred rounds and the gun breaks. I am not at all impressed with Kimber right now.

Return I hope

I looked at it and there is a pin that holds it in place, but I really don't want to bugger it up trying to get it out. Can't tell, but I think it's a roll pin. We'll see tomorrow what Kimber has to say.

It is in fact a roll pin. Kimber has sent ejectors out as I have replaced a couple but not for the leg breaking off. It will not
come notched for roll pin on the leg however. If you have never done it let them pay shipping and do it. Especially on an alloy framed gun. Just my opinion.

I have to agree with the others, I'd suggest sending it back to Kimber and letting them fix it.

Back to Kimber

Called Kimber this morning, and they are going to fix it. Long turn around time though. They said 4-6 weeks. Bummer! And you are right about the warranty. They said "any work done outside the factory will void the warranty".
