I had a chance to get my new (to me) Solo out to the range today.
I really liked the way the little sucker shot and was really surprised at how accurate it was. The closest targets at my range are 15 yards and it was printing 4" groups with the Remington Golden Sabers. I didn't expect that at all from that tiny sub 3" barrel. Lot of fun to shoot.
I put 30 125 grain Golden Sabers through it and all except for the last one shot fine. On the last round the slide locked back so the round could not chamber (yup had the slide release under the spring ). Not sure what that was about.
I had bought some Armscore 125 grain FMJ after seeing Hickok45's Solo review. He shot those without any problems and said they "felt hot". Picked up 100 rounds of those and I'm here to tell you that stuff is junk. I had several that would not fire because the primers are so hard the little Solo can barely dent them. Also many failures to eject. My Springfield EMP also had its very first misfires today with two Armscore's that did not detonate because of the hard primers. The springfield had previously never had a malfunction of any kind out of several hundred rounds of various type.
So after I gave up on the Armscore garbage I broke out some Winchester white box 115gr FMJ, and was VERY surprised that those shot fine! The last one of the day (out of about 80) failed to eject. Not bad considering I didn't even expect them to function in the Solo.
So I was pretty happy with the little gun. That is until I got home and broke it down to clean it. It seems my pistol has an issue with the barrel locking lugs. They are bending and also tearing up the slide, seems like they don't mate up right.
I'm going to give Kimber a call tomorrow. I'm the second owner of this pistol so Not sure if they will help me out.. guess I'll find out.

Here's a picture of Solo with his cousin Springfield

Sounds like you had some good and bad. Sorry to hear of the bad. Kimber customer service should be able to help you. Good luck, and keep us posted as to what's happening.

Bosh, nice report.

Be gentle and DO tell them that you know of others that have had the barrel lug peening.
I for one had it and sent my Solo in, it came back with a new barrel and slide with all new slide components, turn around was a little more than a week.

Kimber will take care of you, you can reference my post to them if you want.

I called Kimber customer service and got a return authorization. Turn around time is 4-5 weeks they said. Hopefully they are being on the conservative side. I'm going to try and ship it out Friday. Talked to Sergio, very nice guy.

Bosh.

Thanks for the update!
For those who think Kimbers customer service is bad, its a shame that the poster has a problem but kudos to Kimber for taking care of a second owner gun.;)

Update!
My Solo came back from Kimber today.
All I can say is Kimber customer service ROCKS!!

Service preformed:
Replaced; Slide, Barrel, Recoil Spring, Solo Spring

Test fired 3 Mags of American Eagle 124GR FMJ
Test fired 2 Mags of Federal Hydrashok 147GF JHP

Complementary Services:
Replaced the sear and thumb safety pins
Round cycling checked
Safety function checked

No charge on my CC.
I can tell just by handling the slide is very smooth in operation. Much more than before. I also think the recoil spring is not as stiff as the old one (from memory, no measurement)
This is for an out of warranty pistol so double points to Kimber from me!

And that's why we don't bitch about paying in excess of $1,000 for one of their guns. No doubt, it will be right or they'll make it right.

Glad you're happy. Looking forward to range report.

Hope I don't need to contact their customer service but feels good to know if I do that they are really good. Thanks for the report, OP!

Update:
Had a chance to take baby Solo out to the range today (first time since I got it back from Kimber).
Happy to report 50 rounds of 124 gr American Eagle.. Zero malfunctions.
Took the gun apart to inspect and everything looks normal, no barrel "peening" to be seen.
I'm a happy camper..
