Hey guys- I'm glad to find a place to talk about Kimber rifles. I think they are damned fine guns.

I picked up the 84M in .338 Federal some years back at an NRA dinner. It's really an excellent rifle. Accurate too. That said, I just shoot targets with it, no hunting.

A couple of weeks ago I picked up an LPT in.308 and I'm going to try my hand at some long distance shooting. Should be fun. Worst case, I get to spend some more money on optics and other toys.:D

I am sick to death of people saying that Kimbers are terrible, or not worth the price, or whatever else makes Remington and Savage better than Kimbers.

That LPT has a fluted barrel right? Any pics.
Yes, yes, we need pics and range reports and all that cool stuff.

Pics of shot groups. :D

I used to think I wanted a .338, but when I discovered the ammo was ~$5.00 a round I changed my mind.

I agree with you, GMountain. Kimber makes a fine rifle. I took my new to me Kimber 84M out to the range recently and put 30 rounds downrange. I was pleasantly surprised by the felt recoil. I expected more out of a .308 as the rifle is fairly light. The trigger pull and break were excellent, no idea what pound the trigger was set at but it's fine just like it is. My shots were grouping nicely at 100 yards but I was a bit more erratic at 200 yds. I'm still learning how to use a scope or rather dialing the scope in.
The ammo was ball but I have no idea what the bullet grain weight was.
Is .308 ball all the same?
