Well I am about to purchase nite sites for my Pro Crimson Carry II. I was wondering if I could get some insight from you guys on which I should buy. I am leaning towards Trijicon but not totally sure yet. Also what are your thoughts on only putting a nite site on front only? Thanks

I haven't been able to find the tritium sight with the cocking shoulder that came on my Super Carry Pro for sale any where but if I were putting night sights on a carry gun that is the only sight I'd consider. Last year I had what my doctor called a pinched nerve in my neck that left my left hand for all practical purposes useless. I couldn't rack the slide on most of my 1911's to save my life except for my Super Carry Pro. I could easily slide the gun down my side, hook the rear sight on the edge of my jeans pocket and push down. I could do it just as fast as my son could cock his 1911 using two hands.

I never thought about this before but what if when TSHTF one of your hands was injured and you needed to rack the slide on your gun to get back into the fight?
The Super Carry was designed as a carry gun, someone at Kimber must of thought about that when they designed the gun.

Chuck, the same sights that come as issued on the Super Carry Pro can be purchased as Meprolight tritium night sights from the Kimber web sight for $129. Click below to check it out:

Mike240 says that the Meprolight slant sight that I saw lacks the cocking shoulder. Sorry if I got you excited Chuck!! Check out the Dawson or Heinie sights Mike mentioned!!

Kimsey, I have Trijicon nite sites on two of my M&P pistols. I really like them. The green glow on the night stand is a very comforting sight as you nod off to sleep at night.;););) I have Crimson Trace Laser Grips on my Custom Stainless II, but am seriously considering adding nite sites also.

You can check out or order Trijicon sites ($142.80) for your Kimber from MidwayUSA by going to:

Rear Sights | 1911 CommanderGovernment | 1911

Here are the sites on my M&P's:

Tool Auto part Fashion accessory Font Everyday carry
Brown Wood Gun barrel Trigger Gun accessory

You can also check out the Meprolight sites offered by Kimber if you go to the link on the post before this.

Kimber states they are not selling the cocking shoulder sight alone yet and may not. It is the same as the slant on other models but with it milled out. Look and compare you see the same side contours. Any one with a milling machine and a small end mill and ball cutter could do it quick.

Single front tritium is pretty popular actually. Also look at Dawson precision for their version and the Heine Ledge sights. The folks at Dawson are great.

I like TFO's have had them on 5 or6 guns with no problems, that way you can see them in the dark or bright sun light.

Thanks for the replies. I never though about having to reload with 1 hand and the ability to do that has me rethinking my thoughts. I like Trijicon because of their brightness and the slim profile. Reloading with them would be a challenge I think.

Can somebody post a pick or link to what sights look like that have the cocking shoulder? The pics of sites tend to be from the other side, naturally.

Like in this pic....I can 't tell if there is a shoulder or not.

That sight does not have a cocking shoulder, it's a fixed slant. Look at the rear sight on the Super Carry Pro.

TruGlow shows their sites on a Glock. When I select the Kimber version they still only show a Glock pic. Can you post a pic of the TFO sights on your Kimber if you have that set up.

Sights is the next mod I'll look at and so far Mr. Google isn't very helpful.

That was has no shoulder. This is Kimbers on the Super Carry and Gold Combats.
Thanks. That is the pic I needed. Now where the heck can you find them for sale? I don't know why Kimber would not sell something people want. Could it be that they wouldn't sell as many $1500 guns if you can add $150 sights to a $900 gun to get what you want?

Kimber does not manufacture the sights or own Meprolight. Meprolight is an Israeli owned company that they import the sights from. Maybe if you tried contacting Meprolight directly they could help you.

From Meprolight - Tritium sights for a Kimber

Looks like they only offer what Kimber shows on their web site.
Gee...didn't see that coming. CONSPIRACY!

The most common "brag" I hear from guys about their sights has nothing to do with vision....it's always that they can rack the slide against their holster. And I can't seem to join that club! Everyone is against me! Aarrrrgggghh!
