I became a new member yesterday and must say that this sight pales in comparison to the XDtalk sight! I just purchased a Solo CDP waiting to pick it up next Thursday or Friday and am excited. After review this sight I don't think there is the same "love" that the XD people have for their firearms.

You are going to love the SOLO. I bought one for my wife a couple of weeks ago and I love carrying it myself. I have run about 150 rounds through it and it is working fine with the recommended ammunition.
I also bought myself about a week earlier a Super Carry Ultra +. I like ot but the SOLO carries real nice.

Thanks for answering the thread. I was beginning to wonder.

Yeah, for whatever reason people are not joining/posting. I cannot figure it out as site looks very nice and no trolls. I own two Kimbers, Ultra Carry II and full size target. Like both of them...but the finish does come off too easy. Both are very accurate.

I picked up a couple of extra magazines at Hirschey's discount guns in Fort Wayne Indiana, when I purchased my wifes SOLO.
I also have a Custom Crimson Carry II and a Super Carry Ultra +. I have had minor FTF issues with them, but I believe after the breakin period is over, they will be fine. The CCC is already working good after about 400 rounds and the SCUP is working itself in. A couple of failure to return to battery after it is good and dirty. Like all of them and this site. I also watch the 1911 site but a lot of Kimber bashing in the Kimber section. Of the 600+ threads I have look over about 260. Just trying to gain insight into these complaints. Most of them go back into 2009 and 2010. Similar to Harley bashing on the Harley site. Lets try to keep this site going to all of our benefits.

This site has a lot of potential, but I think most people are over at the Kimber forum on 1911forum.com
Yes, there is a lot more activity on the Kimber thread at 1911Forum.com, but I also think this site has potential. As much as I enjoy learning about other 1911 platforms, I like the idea of a site specifically for those of us who have invested in Kimber. I check both every day, and will try to post here when I can.

I got a Super Carry Custom HD a couple of weeks ago, and am loving it. ~300 rounds of perfect shooting so far. I have 12 pistols, and try to get to the range with each in rotation, just to keep them all (and myself) in good shooting form. Since I got the Kimber, though, I have been taking two pistols to shoot each trip to the range (the one that is next in rotation, and the Kimber that is now besting them all).

Don't give up on this site, folks. It hasn't been up long, and I think it will become what we make it.

Great, so let's get this puppy rolling and start asking questions and sharing experiences so that we can all learn from each other. We all have a common bond...we all have Solos!

I don't have mine yet but I will in a couple of days and plan to hit the range this weekend to start the break in process. Anyone have any pointers? If so please start another thread for future reference.

Ok, Here goes. I am a former LEO. In uniform I carried an S&W 4 inch Model 66. That show how long ago I did that. Once I was promoted to dectective sergeant in plains clothes I carried an S&W model 38 air weight 2". I still have the Model 38. I loved to carry it.
I have many other handguns including Walther PPK, ColtXSE, Kimber Custom Crimson Carry, S&W model 19 and several others.
I bought a Kimber Super Carry Ultra plus and thought I really liked it. I do but then the next week I bought my wife a SOLO Stainless.

I wish I had bought two because I love and I mean love this pistol in a Desantis soft tuck IWB. I don't even know it is there. I also ride motorcyles and it is great to carry while riding.

Anyway this is food for thought.

NB, thanks for sharing. I'm a marketer (brand manager)and just got into firearms so I'm still learning. My expertise is in premium hand made cigars and I to ride, although not as much as I would like to. I'm looking forward to learning about firearms as To the same level as i do about tobacco, if not more.

Marshall, you must be bored as hell, resorting to digging up posts from 4/14. Maybe you need a hobby, ever thought of knitting?

Actually it's 4/13....

Not bored at all {ok a little}, just looking at posts from a few years ago before most of us were members ...

I did knit back when I was 10 though...Parks and Recreation had us learn that and I made my mother a doily...

If Rosie Greer thought it was cool, I'm not about to knock it.

I rarely response to a subject such as this, but...

Given my background I have been a member of several forums but a participant in few. As in the SW and CZ forums I had one or a few specific questions so I joined and have probably not been back.

A couple forums I look at periodically mainly to stay current on accessories such as scopes etc.

This forum I check a few times a day. Unlike 1911forum, you don't have brand fans jumping into another section raising hell. It is a great forum for gaining information and seeing that all other brands have issues and warranty return issues. Even multi brand forums eventually get influenced by the biggest dollar contributor or an egotistical owner (that should cover two large 1911 forums) and post and threads get deleted to protect someone or a brand.

The other is that things go full circle and is generational. Mainly with training and tactics and shooting methods but also gun smithing. Someone re names a technique that they think they invented just because they were either not born or still on the teet at the time of its real discovery. But as a form of self promotion to make a buck as the newest latest greatest twenty something trainer; they bash everyone else and treat others as stupid. The dick measuring gets old...

Here people are honest of their knowledge and experience and abilities. They like their Kimbers but usually admit the brands shortcomings with no excuses as all production guns have some issues depending on your expectations.

Maybe I am just getting older but the maturity here is appealing to me. That and I have lost the patience years ago trying to convince people that they did not invent the wheel just because wheels transported their mother to the location of their conception.

Nice post, Mike. I agree with you. When it comes to firearms, it seems the folks in KT like them all and bash none, although they may truthfully describe a personal negative occurrence. I don't consider that bashing.

Maturity on KT? Well, there's plenty of age, but I'm not sure about maturity. :) :D
