My daughter Brooke has her 18th birthday this Wednesday and said she wanted to go to the range with myself and Ms.Gigi as her gift.I decided to give her this as her very first practice firearm as a gift.It has taken 27 hours so for with the help of several Lead-Clean gun cloths and a tube of Flitz, but it's getting there. Now the hard part, trying to find some more 22 lr to use....

Happy birthday to your daughter!

She's a lucky girl to get that gun and you're a lucky dad that has a daughter that wants to share your hobby with you.

On the other hand good luck with finding .22's. I got a Kimber .22 conversion kit for my last birthday and have yet to be able to use it, I haven't seen a single .22 on the shelf of any gun store in over a year.

I don't often find .22 lr rounds on the shelf but 1/2 the time when I ask the guys/gals at the gun counter they have boxes under the counter. I bought a 333 round Winchester value pack last time I asked and they had it just to have more on hand. The CCI mini mags or similar high velocity rounds like Kimber recommends are a little harder to find and more $$. I have bought some of that too within the last few months but am saving it since my M&P .22 and my Ruger 77/22 both shoot the regular velocity stuff just fine.

You have to wonder just where the hell all the .22's are going. I've got an article in front of me talking about the ammo shortage. Tim Brandt of ATK (the parent company of CCI) says the daily average output of ".22 Long Rifle" ammo at their Lewiston, Idaho plant is several MILLION rounds a DAY. They along with most other ammo manufacturing plants are running 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

It's always cool to spend quality time with your kids doing pretty much anything.

My daughter is not one who looks forward to birthdays. She'll turn 40 this year. Ouch. How'd she get so old?

Son will be 36, but he couldn't care less.

Happy birthday to your daughter. My baby, also a daughter, is 38. She is also a dead shot.. Start 'em young I always say. She has a great Dad by the way.
Thanks and I agree about starting them young. She is looking forward to going to the range and already wants to try my 9mm.My response was "Baby steps Brooke, baby steps."The last thing I want is to scare her away from this bond we will be creating.

I agree on starting them young. My grand daughters (4,8,and11) got a Cricket rifle for Christmas last year. My son in law takes them shooting regularly. The 8 year old went deer hunting with her dad this year.
