Took my Eclipse out to the range the first time since putting in the flat spring from Wilson Combat.

A quick 100 rounds down range, and if this gun was smooth before, it's flawless now! I had been having issues with 8 round magazines loading the first round from time to time, but today, no problem what so ever. I did have an accidental double tap getting used to the extra snap it felt like it had today...

Loving the new spring and the take down without the tool is nice and smooth.

I'm glad to hear that you like the Wilson Combat Flat Wire Spring. I've been recommending it to everyone I know that shoots a pro model Kimber.

I may try one of those one day but my last recoil spring lasted 3000 rounds without a problem and compared to the cost of the WCFWS vs Kimbers springs, I may keep on waiting..

$50 vs $15 {pk of 3}...do the math..

Decision...

These last 10x the lifetime of the normal springs and they make the breakdown / reassembly process much simpler, no paperclip required!

It also gives that extra little snap that has erased FTF issues for several folks who have done the changeover.

The normal life of normal springs according to who??
If I can get 3000 rounds out of each spring X3 that is 9000 rounds for $15.
As for as the take down on a Pro Carry, I can take mine apart with the little "L" shaped tool in less than 5 minutes.
As for as the fte issues, I have never had any with either of my PCII..

Details...

It's all in the details... You can argue if you feel like it, I don't.

Kimber spring suggested life is betweeen 800 and 1500 rounds.
This is according to Kimber.

The Flat springs from WC are actually 10.95 for the replacement springs, the 50$ is for the kit which includes a guide rod that is machined from a solid piece of metal instead of being put together, and a recoil spring plug that is at least as good a fit as the factory piece of not better.

I have read several places that quote the lifetime of these flat springs as 10000 rounds.

Super glad you love your kimber, I love mine, just like it a little better with no FTF in 100 rounds even when chambering from a magazine with 8 rounds.

I've gone the same route as you Jeff. I'm fine with the "tool."

If I came across as argumentative, I apologize....

All I'm saying is you get 10K rounds with Wilson Combat springs{$50} and I get 9K for 3 springs {$15}...

Every manufacture of anything wants you to believe that you have to do this and that at certain intervals because they want your money..

Kimber wants you to change the springs at 800 rounds because they want you to replace them when there not worn out because they want your money.

I go through 800 rounds a month on my PCII 9mm. You think that I should put a new recoil spring in it every month??...Didn't think so..

I will put another 3k on each spring while people keep replacing theirs when it's not needed...

And by the way, Kimber says it's 800 rounds not 800-1500 rounds...FYI..

SPRING REPLACEMENT CHART
Compact & Pr
o Models:
Recoil Spring:
.45 ACP & 40 S&W/22 lbs., .38 Super/18 lbs.
CHANGE EVERY 800 rounds.
Firing Pin Spring:

Mainspring:
23 lbs., CHANGE EVERY 5000 rounds.

{Because they want your money}

Thanks for your review,

I have only changed to the XP spring on my Pro model, I may look into this when time comes for a change, I am up for anything that makes it easier to work on them, I am still working and a few bucks either way, does not hurt me.;)

Sounds Good To Me!!

Between Chuck43 and Elidar73, ya'll have just about talked me into the Wilson Combat Flat Wire Recoil Spring. I know that I don't NEED this recoil spring, but I didn't NEED the Kimber Pro Carry II either!!! I just WANTED it!! And that is the key to the whole issue!!! :D:D God made money to be squandered away on pistols and parts!!

Nuf said!! So much for the wit and wisdom of The Lineman!!:cool:
