I'm new to the forum and just received my Aegis Ultra II 2 days ago. I'm also new to CC so I could use some recommendations on holsters. Both IWB & OWB. I would prefer to not damage the finish. Also, any other tips or helpful hints about that pistol.

Welcome to the forum from northern Illinois NickyP and congratulations on the new Aegis Ultra II. First of all read your owners manual, clean and oil the gun then begin breaking it in. If you're going to use it as a carry gun you're going to want to get around 500 trouble free rounds through it before you can trust it. In the mean time introduce yourself to the membership and get acquainted with the place. We have a lot of good information already posted in the various sub forums.

Welcome, NickyP. Unfortunately, just about any holster will wear on the finish of your pistol. Every day carry (EDC) guns will not remain pristine. The good news is that, at some point, you can have reconditioned. I'm thinking I will eventually cerakote my guns as they begin to show wear.

Alien Gear makes a nice, inexpensive IWB holster. I received an email from them to day stating they now have an OWB holster available. For a nice, dressy leather holster, check out https://www.facebook.com/kggunholsters/photos_stream Kenneth is one of our members.

Welcome to the Kimber Forum NickyP and congrats on getting your Ultra Aegis 3. The frame you shouldn't have to worry too much about. I have a Stainless Pro Carry II, which has an aluminum frame and it shows nothing. The black slide is just going to wear unless you keep it in the safe. I have a Royal II with a blue finish and only 300 rounds through it and I can already see scratches around the ejection port from shell casings hitting it. The way I see it though, wear is just a natural part of it if you are going to enjoy your gun. I like looking at mine, but I like shooting it a lot more. It doesn't bother me.

The key point of a gun is, "Is it a good shooter?" By that, I mean does it function reliably, does it fit your hands properly, can you hold a reasonable group on your intended target.

As they say, don't judge a book by it's cover.

But aren't the Kimbers gorgeous? I too love to look at, hold, and dry fire my Kimbers, but I much prefer shooting them.

Welcome to the forum from Ohio. Holsters are a personal preference thing. I prefer firearms holster.com. Their holsters can be IWB or OWB and they don't cost an arm and a leg. Good luck and be safe.

What Holster?

Welcome to the forum from beautiful downtown Monroe, Georgia!!!

Congrats on your new Kimber Aegis. Enjoy shooting it. If you choose to use it as an EDC pistol, just prepare for it to show some wear. Stainless guns show wear the least (for future reference). As for holsters, well, I have a box full of them in my closet. They are a very personal thing. The box contains holsters that I have tried because they sounded or looked good at the time, but failed to live up to my expectations or needs. Currently, my favorites are:
-For my Smith and Wesson M&P40 Shield (IWB) is a Don Hume holster or (OWB) is a Blackhawk Model 28 Askins Compact Concealment Holster.
-For my Full Size M&P 40 and M&P 22 (IWB) again is a Don Hume or (OWB) a Bianchi Model 57 Remedy holster.
-For my Kimber Pro Carry II, (IWB) once again a Don Hume and (OWB) a Bianchi Model 57 Remedy holster.

These are what work for me, at this time. The Don Hume is not shown. It is just a simple IWB sheath holster with a belt clip. I'm not a big IWB fan!!! :(:( OWB is my thing. I like good gun leather!!!
