Redemption Arc? Raptor II 10mm Flies Today

Kimber Talk Crew,
Today is the day! As I am still searching for a Kimber to settle on for my choice 1911, I sold off my Rapide Scorpius in .45 ACP. After a trip back to the factory and still encountering some issues, the pistol was serviceable but no longer held my confidence. Perhaps my expectations were too high but, at a $1,600 price tag, I guess I had hoped for more.
But, that does not mean I was going to give up.
I picked up this beautiful Raptor II in 10mm recently and I will be taking it out to shoot here today for it's first run. I wanted a 10mm handgun for obvious reasons and felt that it was a good opportunity to kill to birds with one stone. I'll let you know how it goes!

Alright so I ran 140 rounds through the Raptor II 10mm so far.
100 rounds of Sellier & Belot 180gr FMJ
20 rounds of Sig Sauer Elite 180gr JHP
20 rounds of Underwood 220 Hard Cast Flat Nose

I had 3 malfunctions total.
1x Failure To Feed
2x Failure To Eject

All 3 malfunctions were from the S&B 180gr FMJ's. Not perfect but not the worst first run I've had with a 1911. Could just not like the ammo or just working out some kinks in the early part of the break in period. I used three factory Kimber 8 round magazines for the testing. 2 of the magazines experienced malfunctions and one did not. And yes, the images are mirrored from recording and I did not fix them haha.

I will keep you posted on further progress!

How do you feel about the full length guide rod
I honestly like it on this model at least. I have had full length guide rods on other 1911's that were two piece and required you to unscrew them in order to field strip the gun. I was not a fan of that. This one is just a standard one piece full length guide rod that field strips like any other 1911 regarding the plunger and bushing. I'm not sure if it matters a lot from the shooters perspective but my Rapide Scorpius in .45 ACP was a standard, GI style recoil system which I found interesting in such an expensive "high end" offering. But, many of the top end manufacturers use that same system as it just works 🤷‍♂️

Update:
Kimber is indeed sending me a new slide stop. Even though I have already remedied the issue, I appreciate the customer service and having a backup slide stop on hand is never a bad thing. Plus, I can compare it to photos of the original as well as test it to see if it suffers from any similar issues.
Overall, a good experience with their service once again. I'm taking the Raptor out again today because I don't want to stop shooting it haha!

I received the new slide stop from Kimber today and it is definitely different than the original. I am not sure if it is just the correct slide stop (as it was labeled for .38 Super, .40 S&W, 9mm & 10mm) and I might have received one for a .45 ACP model originally OR perhaps they polished this one before sending it to me? My polish job has been working 100% with everything from 180gr FMJ's, 180gr JHP's and 230gr Hard Cast so I might just leave it in and hang on to this one as a back up. But here are some pictures for comparison in case anyone was curious:

Old slide stop before polishing (pictures I sent to Kimber):
Wood Sports equipment Gas Metal Musical instrument

New slide stop:
Wood Auto part Composite material Bumper Metal

Old slide stop:
Wood Hardwood Wood stain Flooring Plywood

New slide stop:
Wood Household hardware Tool Automotive exterior Hardwood

The old one is stainless steel as well but the lighting made it look much darker. Of course it was dirty from shooting too as I wanted to leave the copper marring on it for the photos I sent to Kimber. I haven't tested this slide stop yet since, as I said before, my DIY polish job is 100% now. And it is very similar to the new slide stop in polish and geometry.
Just figured I would share this with everyone as Kimber stood by their product as usual, sent me a new slide stop without much hassle and I was able to get the Raptor II running 100% with all kinds of ammo. (using Kimber mags)

Any guesses on if it was originally the wrong slide stop or if they just sent me a polished one knowing what needed to happen?

Well since it's a new gun under warranty, it probably has the 18.5lb stock spring.

Just a quick update,
The gun is running smooth! I did have one (and only one so far) incident of a failure to lock open on an empty mag. Had me concerned that I polished slightly too much off of the slide stop. So I am going to run the factory replacement slide stop I received from Kimber to see if it works. Might as well test it out right?
Also,
I took the forum's advice and picked up an Ed Brown MSH with the chain link pattern. You all were right, it is way better looking. It took some very minor fitting (grip safety wasn't happy) but now everything works and looks awesome.
Thanks for the suggestion!
