Just walked in the door and the Solo has returned back to the Lou.A couple of questions if anyone can help.I only have 450 rounds through it but they replaced the outer recoil spring and adjusted the extractor...FYI..I was getting an FTE every 2-3 shots before it was shipped back.Any guesses why the recoil spring might have been changed and does the replacement take it back to the break-in period??...Thanks from St-Lou.

My guess would be that they measured the tension of the spring and found that it didn't come up to specs since you had fired 450 rounds through the gun already. No the spring replacement doesn't effect your break in period.

Just a little info on my Solo range report after getting it back from Kimber.I shot 100 rounds of Winchester Nato 124 and 100 Winchester Ranger{law enforcement ammo}147 bonded jhp without ONE fte.YES YES YES!!!..It was great shooting this little gem without wanting to throw it at the target for a change.I realize that it's just a baby step but at least it's walking.Enjoying Solo Nation in Cardinal Nation...Booyah!!

Good morning from st-lou.Kimber replaced the recoil spring and adjusted the extractor.I called and asked them why they replaced it with only 450 rounds through it and he said it was probably defected from the factory. Regardless, it's purring like a kitten and since this is my girlfriend's ccw, if she's not happy nobody's happy. We're going to put a few hundred more down range before trusting it completely and then maybe I'll get back my 45 PCII from her.

I was tempted to put a mag of the Freedom Munitions in it but I thought I would leave well enough alone..Enjoying Solo Nation in Cardinal Nation...Booyah!!
Great to hear you got your SOLO back from Kimber and you are happy with it, I hope it continues to improve as you get more rounds through it. I too am a fan of Freedom Munitions having shot many thousands of their reloads but I wouldn't mention it in any conversation or correspondence with Kimber. On page 18 of your owners manual it states, "The use of reloaded, "remanufactured," handloaded or other non-standard ammunition voids all warranties.

...I have never used this ammo in the Solo and didn't realize the warranty void if doing so.I use it in other pistols that I have and never have had a problem. Thanks for the heads up.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying not to use it. I'm saying don't ever mention it when talking to Kimber about your gun. I've been using Freedom Munitions reloads in my Kimbers for years without any problems.

Thanks Chuck43.I love my Freedom Ammo.In fact just ordered another box of 500 124gr on sale for $121.00.I'm also heading back to the range after the Rams/Tampa game.I'm thinking a snubby practice day at Top Gun.My Ruger 357 2in and the Solo will cap off my weekend....

I glad yours is now working like it should have from the start. Do you know what pound spring they replaced it with?
I will check with Kimber on Monday and get back at you on that. One thing I did notice was the Solo had much more snap than it did before and I thought maybe it was just me but I had the range trainer at Top Gun shoot a couple of mags and he also said it had a lot more pop to it.Maybe it was the Winchester Ranger 147 jhp I was using since I never used them before...

Another successful range session with the Solo.I shot another 100 rounds through it and not a single FTE.I also shot 100 rounds of 357's through my snub nose Ruger and needless to say,my hand and thumb are barking a bit. Thanks to those who encouraged me not to give up on the Solo...

Great, it's sounds like Kimber really got your SOLO back on the right track. Another couple of range sessions like the one today and I'd consider it carry ready.
