Smokey Mountain Knife Works

Since SMKW is across the street from Buds I went shopping. Sadly they didn’t have any guns on my list HOWEVER they had a case full of Kimber’s! From entry level Micro 380’s up to Sapphires, Rose Gold, a lot of 1911’s from Stainless Ultra Carries to several different 10mm. I saw a Long Slide, even a Super Jagare. Some hard to find and popular models that I have not seen “In Stock“ in a very long time. Biggest Kimber selection I’ve seen in a long time. No Nighthawk, Dan Wessons, Ed Browns, or Wilson’s.

The Lodge Factory is only 44 miles from Chattanooga so you can buy it almost every where. From grocery store to Walmart. Cast iron does not work great on a glass cooktop. I have Mom’s old iron skillets but only make cornbread in one of them.
I avoid glass top ranges for that very reason.
Electric is fine, but glass top ranges are a non starter for us.
Most of my extensive cast iron arsenal is close to 100 years old, and some of it gets used almost every meal.

I know but during the kitchen remodel, wife didn't want no old school coil wire cook top (even if Home Depot had one in stock) didn't match the decor and all that crap. I do the cooking anyway so it is what it is. I don't love the glass top either mainly because even just fixing a grilled cheese sandwich makes a mess and lets not even talk about frying bacon...

Yeah, Momma just had to have one too. Now she constantly complains because it shows “everything “ that gets on it. So guess who gets to polish the dang thing all the time!!!😁

The last time I was in Tennessee at Smoky Mt Knives, we were on my motorcycle. The last thing I was looking for was cast iron cookware to haul around.

...we remodeled our kitchen and Ms. Mary Matilda had to have an electric/glass cooktop... ...and yes, I do most of the cooking and all the cleaning of that cooktop... ...don't use cast iron in the house but do when we be in the RV... ...as in tomorrow evening in the Smokies... and yes, will be at 2 LGS' in Sevierville TN....

Almost all our cookware is cast iron or Caphalon/Commercial aluminium.
We cook everything, so glass top range just won't work for us.

To stay on topic, my BIL went to SMKW earlier this year, and all he brought me back was a damn T-Shirt...lol

Gas. Only way to run a proper kitchen.
I couldn't agree more, 100% better temperature control. My cast iron gets a workout on the stove, in the oven, grill or smoker.
