I've had my Solo for 4 years. Shoot the recommended ammo every 6 months, and keep it clean as per Kimber instructions. Last trip to the rand revealed that it now light strikes/ fails to fire 4/7 rounds per magazine.

I've called Kimber now on 3 different days and no one answers (website says they have long phone wait times).

I have been to 5 different gun stores- none would even give me $100 for trade in value (it's in excellent condition, 300 rounds through it, well maintained), saying that they are all unreliable and even people who send them in for service are having no luck. I will keep trying.

I was told that there may be class action litigation about these guns not working.

Anyone have any experience with these? Sending them into Kimber (cost, success, etc).

...that sucks

I've seen a fairly mixed bag of reviews on the solo, they can work fine, several members here like theirs. Then there's the other side of that coin :-(
I would suggest being patient, call early, and sit on hold as long as it takes. Send her in, chances are they'll fix it for free even though you've had it a while? good luck

There's a thread on your exact problem just last week. Some one suggested blasting out the striker channel with carb cleaner. If that doesn't do it check for a broken striker spring or chipped striker. Anyway it ain't too serious. Just frustrating. The scary this you may have been carrying a paper weight for the last 6 months.
What a knuckle head I am; I just realized that was your thread.

Furthermore I am constrained by my New Years resolution from giving my honest opinion of the Solo.
If we wanted to hear from a mealy mouthed weasel who says one thing and thinks another, we could listen to the current lineup of presidential candidates. You keep telling us that the Solo is a POS, Cuca, we respect you for it.

Sorry for the responses so far. I was hoping some of the members that have had positive experiences with their Solo's would have related them to you. Kimber will make it right eventually. Hang in there.

Hey MT, I've reread all the posts on your solo problem and a lot of folks have given some good advice on do yourself fixes but if you're not into that and it's not helping the best thing to do is send it back to Kimber and have it YONKERED. The one thing everybody says is that they will fix it and make it right. I don't think anybody has a problem with Kimber customer service. Even though you've had it for four years I'm willing to bet they will still fix it for you. Carry-On

Well ok then,mt my solos are nothing but great no problems but I shot them almost every day or at least every other day since 2013 l do not let any of my carry guns just set for 6 months never because that's not good but like islander said kimber will take care of it.and if you will flush it out real good it may shoot just fine also shoot it more often.

It's very difficult to stay positive about the Solo. I had one hated it, gave it away. My friend now hates it. Lol I have spoke to kimber several times in the past about it. I for one would never carry one for self defense. I am sure kimber has made thousands of them and they worked great. I dont want one of the either. They should let everyone with a defective solo trade for a Micro 9 "or Ultra 9mm.

I have had the same results as iceman except I have only had mine about 6 months. I have been to the range about once a month with it and the only problem I have had is with the slide stop/spring after cleaning. I know this doesn't help with your current issue but wanted to have a positive post to help keep the faith in the solo alive

Heck Zoomy if he's also done with it have him send it my way. Isn't there an armorer on this site ? We should take up a collection and send one of the young guys to Kimber armorer's school for gosh sakes. Also right when I joined the forum my raptor was acting up and I sent it to Kimber. They were professional and pleasant and it came back in just five weeks. Now it won't shoot at all ! No it's perfect. Don't hesitate and it'll be back before you know it.
