None of my guns really like it so I avoid steel whenever possible (which is always now...)
The Blazer Aluminum cased rounds are more forgiving but I still try and avoid anything but brass. The lacquer coating does like to gum things up. Generally all the above mentioned non-brass burns dirty IMO as well. The smoke looks cool tho ;)

I don't think Hornady uses lacquer on there cases and also don't like to compare them to the Russian ammo that we are used to seeing. I would suggest buying a box and try or call Hornady and ask.

Personally I just avoid all steel and aluminum cases. In all honesty I've never had a bad experience with them because I've never use them.

Works pretty good in the AR but I won't put it in my Kimber.

Russian Steel-NYET!!

I tried some of that Russian steel cased stuff in my AR. It shot and ejected all of it but I spent a lot of time scrubbing the chamber to get the crud out of it. IMHO, the savings is not worth the effort! :(:(

That is my opinion of the Russian stuff! However, I have a long working relationship with both CCI and Hornady. I would at least give their offerings a try to see how your pistol digests it. If a chamber "scrub-a-thon" is required afterwards, I'd pretty much write it off for any future shooting. On the other hand, if your pistol likes the CCI or Hornady steel cased ammo, well, you could definitely save some change by using it. It's worth a shot (pun intended!!):D:D

I'd rather not use anything but brass in my Kimber and would actually prefer to use only one brand as long as I like how it performs. Consistency...good. Dicking around...bad. So far, I like Federal American Eagle. I shoot targets and have never had one shoot back. *Knock on wood* I'm not opposed to saving a buck...but I never seem to make that a priority. I like quality. If I were a trucker, I'd probably drive a Pete. "Class Pays"....
