I'd check with the laws of your state! Some states like Nevada & Arizona allows you to have a firearm in the open. Some like California & Illinois you will be subject to arrest and possibly be shot, if stoped and loss of the weapon.
The other side I dont think I would want that scratching up my steering colum!
I have a holster like that mounted inside my center counsel.............

Steve is correct, in Illinois concealed means concealed, it can't be out in the open where it can be seen like that

I have to admit, as a former LEO, if I walked up to a car and shined my flashlight inside, like they all do, I would be a little nervous when I discovered a firearm in that position. I think it would be better to have it concealed and hand an officer your permit along with your drivers license. Let him take it from there.
As far as dealing with bad guys, I would think if it was concealed you could still retrieve it if the need arises. Just my thoughts. But of course I don't live in St. Louis, you might be right.

Thanks for the feedback gentlemen.I had a conversation with a neighbor of mine who is with the Missouri State Patrol and he told me if he walked up to the door of my truck and seen that I would be looking at the end of his barrel until everything was straightened out.He wasn't sure if it was legal here in Mo, but in his definition of "concealed firearm"this was far from it.Cancelled the order and thanks again for all your replies.

To be totally honest, there were two of us on the computer the night I ordered the steering column holster..Myself,and Johnnie Walker was doing the thinking and ordering..Twelve inches of snow/-5 outside and a bottle of JW. Makes me wonder if I should invent a breathalyzer for my laptop....

I also have a friend (Jack Daniels) that would come over to visit. In the old days, sometimes he would say and do the dumbest things and after a day or two later, I just couldn't believe he did that.

I am not sure what's happened to ole Jack. He doesn't come around as much as he use to and that's ok with me. I think he has a thing for my wife and she can't stand him.

Just tell Johnny to stay on the bulk ammo sites. Then if he orders something, no harm, no foul. :)

I stopped by the State of Missouri Troopers HQ and they told me if I installed it exactly like the picture that I posted is it wouldn't be considered concealed.I showed him a picture of the concealed holster that the website sells for another $20 and he said if I used that it would be legal because it's out of site. The downside is the holster is either a zipper or velcro closure and in my mind that may take a minute to get to it.I'm just going to keep it on my side or center console in my truck.
