so im still waiting for my firearms id and pistol permit from the local pd in the great state of new jersey (blah). i recieved a call on monday, it was from the offier at the watch desk, said he had some questions.. what kind of gun i plan on buying, where do i plan on securing it, am i married, do i have kids if so how many and how old, ever been arrested, etc.. then said he has to call and verify my employment and then it will ho to the chief who will call me at his liesure to give his decision. did anyone else have to go thru all this? i initially filed in september, and they ill be waiting 6 mos because theyre so backed up. my dad got his within 3 mos and he said he never got any calls until they called him to pick it up (he lives in a different county). my Kimber Eclipse Target II is all paid off and sitting in the local gun shop patiently waiting for me ha.

OMG, what kind of communist state is NJ? Sounds like an infringement of the 2nd Amendment to me. If you do not have a criminal record, that should be enough for them.

I'm so sorry for y'all.
In Georgia you can get your CWL in less than a week for $80.00.
Once you have a CWL, you can go into any gun store and buy any non-Class 3 firearm / accessory with cash/check/credit card and walk out the door with it.
Even if you don't have a CWL (concealed weapons license) the LGS will run your background check in less than an hour (unless it's Christmas) and you will then walk out the door with your purchase. No waiting.

That blows. In Michigan, I took the class, paid $$$, then waited 4 months for that sweet little laminated card to arrive. Sorry for your tortuously slow waiting time.

There are plenty of beaches not on the East coast. Like the one across the street from me, although it's a little frozen at the moment!sounds like time to evacuate this true blue state. carolinas or tennessee lookin purty good. id go west but i need to stay near the coast.. like the beach too much!

I have to admire the patience of ya'll in NY & NJ!! It took me 10 days to receive my Georgia Weapons License. With that I can carry concealed and purchase firearms without a background check (already done to get the license).
If you are a law abiding citizen and not certified as mentally ill, you should not have to wait 6 months to a year to get a permit to purchase a firearm!! HOW RUDE!!! Subjected to restrictions like that, I'd have to move!!

Dear Lord have mercy on the good people of the Socialist States of New York and New Jersey.
Thank God for states like Ohio and the great Commonwealth of Kentucky!
I ordered my Kimber online. It came the next day. I walked into the FFL and was out in 20 minutes. No waiting period. No "cooling off period" (Hate that term). No License. No permit. No fingerprints. No pictures. Not even an evil eye. Just a "dude, that's sweeeeeet!"

I just renewed my concealed handgun license for another five years here in Ohio. With some info to the sheriff's department when setting my appointment, and being a renewal, it took less then 15 minutes.
