Hey Folks!
I recently discovered to my great dismay that the barrel on my Kimber is DONE. My accuracy has gone the way of Common Sense and there is ONE groove left down the barrel for rifling......Even after using lead and copper solvent.

SO! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.:(

Bar Sto ( if you can find one)
Kart has a very good accuracy rep and are easier to get

Check at Brownells all the tools to fit them too. But no easy task

I'm curious, what model Kimber is it, how old is it and how many rounds have you put through it, am I safe in assuming it's .45 cal? I've shot out a number of rifle barrels in my 60+ years of shooting but never a pistol or revolver barrel. That's mostly because a majority of my shooting was with rifles, I've only been into handguns for the last 20 years or so and I have a number of them.

I'm very surprised to hear of a barrel being shot out. I'm retired military and police and I have seen a lot of guns get a lot of use and abuse. But I never saw one with the barrel shot out of it. I'd really like to know what the count on rounds fired is too.

By the way. I have a Bar-Sto in my FN High Power and can't say enough good about it.

I'd be curious to know too. The 45 is a pretty low pressure round and I have high round count barrels that shoot great. I can see the need to replace a barrel bushing to regain accuracy but it would take a lot to shoot the rifling out. Unless it is seeing regular soakings in copper solvents.

First off my Kimber is a Custom I, a Clacky stamp and I bought it used. So I only know for sure the round count I have put through it. By my own estimation I have approximately 15k rounds through it..... Wish I woulda found out ot was a First Run a long damn time ago....
