I have this info in another thread, but want to ask if anyone else has had this issue. It happened after only 100 rounds . I broke it down, as recommended, after the first 100 rounds for cleaning, and when I slid the rail of the ejector fell out. Broke off the front leg that is held in with a pin. Sent it back to Kimber today for repair.

I've got a Super Carry Custom HD with about 500 rds thru it and I've never run into this problem.I break it down and clean it after every time I shoot it,whether it's 25 rounds or 75 rounds. How was C.S.?Did they give you an approximate repair time?I wish you the best and hopefully Kimber will get it squared away for you.

Called them back

I didn't ask the first time about what would have caused this problem or if this was a systemic problem so I called them back today.
Their response was that if I was using an aftermarket magazine that was oversized or didn't fit correctly. This was not the case, because I was using the one that came with it. The rep I talked to said that this is very unusual and he has had very few of this type failure.
I also asked if it could be how I handled the weapon that caused the problem, and he said that was very unlikely because I would have had to really bang it hard to break it. The gun came apart easily the first time and went back together very easily also. I own 5 other 1911's so it's not an experience problem even though this one breaks down differently.
4-6 week turnaround time.

Agree

This had to be defective from the factory! I have never heard of this happening before. I have found that some of Kimber's customer service reps. are full of recycled oats fresh from the horse!
Couldn't agree more. I could tell that he had to look up the answer on the computer.:D

Oh yeah, I'm stealing that recycled oats line.

Davis, I hope they can put a bit of those oats to use getting back in a lot less time.
