Tactical Pro2 extractor popped out

Is there a way to measure or check the external extractor for wear? To determine if it is out of tolerance to stay in the slide while firing defense ammo?

After a strip down clean and lube, I put about 50 rounds through the Pro and POP! The extractor jumped out. Appears it's only held in place by Kimber magic and extractor spring pressure.

I found it, examined it, and reinstalled. I couldn't see anything wrong with it.

The extractor is held in place by the firing pin stop if I am not mistaken.

This is right up Steve’s alley, he’ll probably chime in when he sees this and tell you exactly whats wrong and how to correct it.

Back in the day when Kimber was using external extractors, they had enough problems with them that they were actually replacing customers slides with new ones with internal extractors.

That happened to my bellybutton. I had to have surgery 😆😆
