Thanksgiving is only a couple of weeks away. Anyone planning on traveling? We aren't. My wife and I will stay home. The rest of the family is up north, and we are in Florida, and I can't stand crowds. Plus, it's so expensive to travel that weekend.

My elderly parents live in a retirement home in Mass., so my wife and I always drive down from NH ( about a two hour drive) to have Thanksgiving with them. Not sure how many Thanksgivings they have left, so we make every effort to be with them during the holidays. We'll be with them on Christmas too.

No traveling for me, both my kids and their spouses will be coming into town along with their 5 kids and 3 dogs. In addition to 2 spare bedrooms I have 3 queen size blow up beds for the grandkids that we put up in the family room. My sister and her family will join us for the day. I plan on a turkey in the deep fryer and a brisket and ribs in the smoker, the women will take care of the side dishes.

Wow ... deep fried turkey and smoked brisket & ribs. Sounds like a delicious Thanksgiving dinner, Chuck43!

I will be spending Thanksgiving at home with my lady friend and my two hounds.I can't eat a lot of solid foods due to side effects from throat cancer treatment, however I can partake of some "Turkey"of the liquid variety on the rocks in my favorite tumbler. That and the annual football games will make for a fine day.

A lot of familys are doing that these days. Back in the 80's my girlfriend's mother sugested doing that, as all kids were grown. We lived in Kalifornia at the time. Thus began a yearly trek for a long weekend. In the 90's it started getting rough getting rooms in the same hotel for 7 to 9 couples. One year we tried Laughlin, NV. on the colorado river about 50 miles from Vegas. Got kind of board there! The next year we were back in Vegas, just made reseverations further out. The buffets at the Wynn, or Bellagio are the best!

I was just corrected! We started the treks in the late 70's maybe 77. We had reservations at the MGM in 1980 thats the year of the fire and the hotel was closed. We still came to Vegas but familys were scattered all over Vegas!
Moved here in 2002.

Christmas is great here also, but forget New years! It's a rip! A few years ago Caesars Palace advertised three nights 4 days at $999.00 per night. you got a paper hat, squeekey noisemaker, and bottle of Cooks champaigne..........
They were sold out two weeks in advance!

Well, my kids, grand kids and their dogs are all here. I spent the after noon setting up the smoker and deep fryer, I've already got the brisket in the smoker, the ribs will go in later. My son brought his new Sig 1911, we played around with it for a bit but since this is a Kimber forum I won't talk about it, hahaha. The guns are all locked up and the liquor cabinet has been opened, I raise my glass and wish you all a wonderful day tomorrow gentlemen.

Hey- what time does the bar open?
It was opened at 8:00PM yesterday and has remained opened, I expect a real rush just before dinner so I'll sneak over early to beat the crowd. Holiday rules are in effect, if you have an itch feel free to scratch it.
