wow, kinda cool that I get the first post but what, is this a new forum site or something? Currently there are 5 members... 2 admin and 3 normal members and all have 0 posts save me after this one...

Well anyway I signed up to ask about Kimbers line up for concealed carry. I have never personally owend a Kimber but I grew up with my dad's and man was that one of the nicest pistols I have ever had the pleasure of shooting. What a nice .45. I have been drooling over the super carry ultra II but whenever I ask to see one it seems that 60% of the time they tell me I need to take a look at the solo. Unfortunatly the solo is apparently a very popular item as it seems that there is never one in stock. So here's the question. Why do I need to take a look at the solo? whats the difference?

op, i have never owned a solo but i do have a kimber custom2. i have owned more than a few 1911,s from colt, springfield, taurus. and my custom2 is by far the tightest, best shooting 1911 i have owned. its a gun i would never sell
i got on here looking for more info on kimbers new line of carry pistol the HD series they look nice but i havnt been able to find much about them yet.
i will keep an eye on this forum and spread the word:D
Wow this is cool, I have a couple of kimbers. I carry a TLE II on duty and i love it. Done quite a few upgrades-i'll try and get some pics up. As far as concealed carry don't discount the fullsize bobtail. It doesn't sacrafice accuracy for concealability. Plus they look pretty sweet too.

Awesome guys! I will start filling out the forum sections today. Stay tuned!!
Solo or super carry, I have both, the super carry in a Pro which is the 4 inch gun with a round butt and I really like the gun, its a tack driver with nice balance. The solo is a typical solo it has a good trigger and on a good day it will shoot a seven shot group under 2 inches at 15 yards which is great for a small gun like the solo. The problem I have with the solo is it tends to jab even with the prescribed ammo that kimber recommends. I tell my friends to stay away from the solo, If you want a gun in a 9mm in the same size look at the Kahr for a lot less money. But you cannot beat the super carry.
I have a super carry pro HD. I can highly recommend it.

what exactly is the difference in the HD models?
Just received my Solo today. It is a smaller gun than I am used to. I also have a Glock 9mm. So far, my patterns are further apart than I am used to seeing. Practice, Practice, Practice The gun has worked flawlessly in the first 50 rds.
Solo

I have been looking for a solo here in Las Vegas for about two years, no luck!
My name and number is on several dealers lists no calls. Been told maybe another 6 months wait.
Have a Kimber CDP II love it. I don't like carring it in Las vegas in the summer months, due to heat and in shorts.
In the heat I carry a Sig P238 (.380) in a Remora holster (no clip) works great.
Want the Solo for more power in about the same size as the sig.
Reports are about 50-50 as reliability goes. I know the first year they had lots of problems.
I would like to see any feedback on this!

I just bought a super carry ultra II this weekend. I went straight to the range and fired 150 rds or so. I love this gun. It fits the hand perfectly and points just as well. I put 7 rds in the size of your fist at 15-20 yds. I was shooting rnd nose 230 ammo. No FTF at all. After that I began to shoot reloads (i was out of all the 45 cal ammo I could find) and the first 40-50 ran well, then I started to get occasional FTF. Bullet would go into chamber but would not close all the way to battery. My reloads had win 231 powder which is a fairly dirty powder and I chalked it up to a chamber that was fouled. At home after cleaning, I tried to hand cycle some hydro shok 230 JHP through it. With a fully loaded mag, the first round would not load by using the slide release. The bullet would hit about 1/3 way up on ramp and stick. I tried polishing it with car wax, as suggested here on another thread and this helped some but did not solve problem. If I started with 6 rounds or all rounds after the first when I loaded 7 fed fine. Gun shoots beautifully, Im just a little worried about using it for concealed.
BTW I own a Kahr PM9 and it is an AWESOME pocket gun for shorts, heat etc. 6 + 1 single stack 9mm that is very accurate with an excellent DOA trigger. I dont know if the solo is better, but I dont know how it could be!

The HD models have a stainless steel frame instead of an aluminum frame. They look awesome, but are about 10 oz heavier.
I also have a couple of HK P2000's and a glock 23, which are technically compact guns, but are really more midsized, and this new Kimber supercarry ultra looks like it will be MUCH easier to carry than they are.

I'm south of Atlanta and my husband and I have a total of five Kimbers, a Custom 2 Stainless, Super Carry Pro, Ultra CDP LG, Eclipse Custom and I jsut picked up a Solo Carry CDP LG yesterday. We were a little scared of the Solo but I was finding the Super Carry Pro to heavy to be my EDC in my handbag. The Solo is a delight. Maybe by it being the CDP from the Custom Shop it was tweaked more or if they just have the bugs worked out but "knock Wood" this one is running like a champ. Even taking 115 grain range rounds with ease.
New Paper Weight!

My new paper weight!
Finally last Wednsday found a Solo CDP LG. Been looking for one since they were introduced two plus yrs. ago. Looks like I will be on the quest for magazines for it for about the same amount of time. Kimber is out of stock and doesn't know when they will have them. Called Wilson and they refered me back to Kimber, they (Wilson) don't make them.
I ran into the same problem when I was going to purchase a kimber hat and range bag, they had them back ordered over 6 months.
I will not go to the range and spend the day fireing 6 and reloading.
Until I get a few extra mags I guess it will make a nice paper weight! I think if Kimber would get there act together they would have a good product!
Go to clip depot: http://www.gunclips.net/kisogunma.html
Midway
brownells, etc
And click the button for them to sent ypu an e-mail when they are in stock.

I got the e-mail from clip depot (gunclips.net) that they had 10.
I placed an order 10 minutes later and got the last 2 (maybe 2 weeks ago).

My solo functions perfectly.
I need to adjust the rear sight and get a taller rear sight, so I may get some meprolight sights. But for now, I know where the POI is in relation the the top center of the front sight and can easily compensate.
what exactly is the difference in the HD models?
I have a Super Carry Custom HD. The HD is just the black Kimpro finish, as opposed to the stainless finish. I chose the HD, only because I'm just a fan of black guns in general. I like the Custom (as opposed to the Pro), simply because I like the 5" barrel. I can actually carry it quite comfortably in a Crossbreed Supertuck holster, though I understand why people with smaller body types than I have would opt for a smaller firearm.
to Biomanghs,
I bought a Kar PM9 Stainless with the night sights etc. plus several extra mags. I was weting my pants I wanted one so bad. What a disapointment when I got it.
I took it to the range once a month or more for about 6-8 months maybe more. Just plan did not like it. Sold it better than a year after purchase lost about $100.00 Did not fit well in my hand, was uncomfortable to fire, and to heavy to me for pocket carry with shorts.
Purchased the Solo CDP about two weeks ago, have not fired it yet, everyone is out of extra mags. Can not see myself firing 6 reloading and firing 6 more etc. Need extra mags so I can enjoy my time.
Untill then it makes into a nice looking paperwight!
I would like to see a Solo. None of the LGS can't get them. So I bought a Shield in 9mm. It's OK but my Kimber 1911's have spoiled me. I carry my ultra carry most of the time. For shooting at the range I like my target or compact better.
