Hey Kimber friends, I am in the process of trying to figure out what Blast media Kimber uses on there firearms. I am almost 100% positive on any blued pistol they are using a 120 AO blast followed by a simply hot blue. On the Raptor series it seems to be 120 AO blast and the flats polished to 400/600 grain and wire wheel the flats.

I am more interested in the factory stainless finish though. Does anyone know what the media that is used? It most certainly is not A.O... If it is bead blasted, I am trying to figure out what grit it is...

Anyone have thoughts on this?

Thanks,
Bc

Man... I don't know if anyone in the general public could answer your questions. Why not try giving Kimber a call and see what they can tell you.

I have no experience with this. I am quoting what came in an email to me from an experienced professional in this area, when I asked him a very similar question regarding my SS PC.

"We can glass bead the slide to restore the satin SS metal on the slide"

HTH.
