Would you trade your favorite Kimber for a high end 1911 such as a Night Hawk, Les Baer, Ed Brown or Wilson Combat?

I would not. Me and my Custom Stainless II are old friends. I have had it for 7 years and I know what to expect from it. If I do my part, Mr. Kimber puts the bullets exactly where I want them to go. You don't mess with that!!

How about you?

Your asking if I'd trade a high end production gun for a top shelf hand built gun?

In a heart beat.

Not giving up/trading Kimbers for any reason. Too pretty, accurate, and my investment to break them in was expensive..:D
I just keep adding guns; they all have a purpose and depending what I'm doing. My least favorite gun is my daily carry weapon at my business; why?
1) It's a poly gun and can take some abuse banging into stuff and really don't care.
2) If I have a shoot at work, LEO's are going to take it from me anyway.
3) It holds more rounds than my 1911's

I will say this gun has been completely reliable (XD40) after 1000's of rounds. It always feeds and always goes bang.

If someone said, "I'll trade you my $2,500 gun for your $1,000 gun", I'd ask, "What's wrong with it? Or have you gone nuts?"

I've never held a Ed Brown or Les Baer. Only one Nighthawk. I am obviously not educated enough in the 1911 world to recognize the $1,800 difference between it and the Kimber I purchased for $1,000. Personally, I think the two-tone Kimber was way better looking than the all black Nighthawk.

BTW, anyone want to buy a H&K USP 40? Has maybe 200 round through it. I need funds/seed-money to go Kimber shopping. :D

I hear you. Definitely not as good a shooter as Kimber. I use my HK USP compact .45 for forest hiking which we do a lot of. Holds 8, durable, super reliable and really well balanced with a full mag. The trigger? Hmmmm....not my fav range gun at all.

There's only one point my thinking differs with yours on and that's the fear of the police taking the gun after the fact. If I'm forced into a situation where I have to fight for my or my families life I want the best most dependable gun I own in my hands, not the red headed stepchild. If I was justified I'm sure I would get the gun back and if I didn't I can always buy another one.

At the surface it's a no brainer to trade.

For me however, I have every gun I've ever owned. Just a quirk with me. I'm not trading or selling anything. There is an emotional attachment to all my guns. Heck, I still have my very first gun... Mossberg 385T bolt action 20 gauge.

I'm thinking it is a better idea to keep my Kimbers and just buy an Ed Brown!

Yes your thinking is logical. And...I've heard it before from my friends. If the XD ever gave me trouble it wouldn't be in my holster right now believe me. So I agree with both of us ;)

I keep looking longingly at Nighthawks, Wilson Combat Supergrade, etc....and maybe someday who knows. Bonus, big day at the track (yeah right). But then I think about the big things that would make life easier and I think better of it. Hell, I need a Turf Tiger more than I need a toy. So, I'll have to wait for my next "You work hard! You DESERVE that" crisis. And my wife is still waiting for a new kitchen. Oops.
