Anyone have an opinion on Swampfox? For an extremely short time (which may be telling), Kimber offered Micro 9's with a Swampfox Sentinel red dot. Kinda hard to find, but it got me thinking it would probably be a simple enough thing to have Kimber mill a slide since they were selling them OI a year ago.

I have heard some people here saying they are good and some said they had issues and customer service wasn’t good.

Until a few weeks ago I had never heard of the company Swampfox until a new member was talking about how good his was. I'm not really into the tactical/battle field latest and greatest. They don't sell them at my favorite gun shop and my dude Travis is pretty much on top of things.
Seems I remember they were a little pricey on there website but may be worth it. I can't bash or praise never owned one.

I've never owned one but have read mixed reviews. Of course, the same can be said for Kimbers (except a do own a couple) and I take online reviews with a large grain of salt. In any case, having used reflex dot sights both with and without the ACSS, if I were buying another new optic to place on a pistol I'd only consider one with ACSS and that pretty much means Holosun. That's just me, though.

I'm only thinking of Swampfox because I like the idea of a RDS on a Micro 9 and Kimber already did it with that one, at least for a few minutes.

Well, I'd certainly feel more confident about a Holosun, but that's mainly because I don't know anything about Swampfox- but I assume they're at least a bit cheaper. I wandered into a gun store yesterday and the counter guy handed me his EDC which was a Shadow Systems somethingorother, so I could look at the Swampfox optic on it. It looked at least as nice as the Vortex on my Aegis, and he really loves it. I dunno. This little project I'm considering is essentially a pajama gun, so I'm not in a rush to get it figured out. Appreciate the responses though, it all adds up.

Just got an email from Vortex about a brand new optic - "CCW Defender". It's a micro sized dot with the same footprint as the 507K. Either a 3 or 6 MOA dot and....drumroll please.....shake awake! Don't know what the street price will be but msrp is $349.99. If you like Vortex (which I do), this one could be worth a look.

I was literally just going to post this because I received the email from MidwayUSA a little while ago. I really didn’t get a chance to read about it but I will in a little while.

Midway has them on sale for $249.
It looks like it's a different animal than their venom optics. That's a good thing.
The Venom is a good optic, but it's outdated.

The Defender is a basic sight like my 407k on my SIG.
It looks like my 407k with a thick heavy duty hood. Similar menu options, lockable etc.
It looks like their version of the 407.

It doesn't have the features of the 507k like solar backup, optional reticles and colors etc. But the 507k is about $340.

If it turns out to be a good durable sight, it should sell as an option for buyers who like Vortex.
