I just stopped at my nearby feed store which I'd never bought ammo at before and they had Remington UMC .45acp fmj 100 packs for $51.00 including tax.

I know I've seen cheap online bulk ammo like Tulammo cheaper, but 50 cents seems pretty darn good for UMC. I'm not against saving money but I'd rather pay more for quality and convenience if I can buy when I need it. I've been paying about 60 cents a round for American Eagle in a gun store, so $51/100 right down the road puts a smile on my face.

I just haven't made the leap to buying 500 or a 1000 rounds at once to save 10 bucks per hundred.

Do you prefer to buy bulk and what kind of quantity and price are you getting?

I get my 9mm {124/147}from freedommution for $135 per 500 {that is shipping included} and my 45acp {50 ct}from the range for $22.50.It's usually Magtech-Winchester-American Eagle.I have never had a problem with the Freedom ammo but since it's remanufactured I didn't use it in my Kimbers until after the 1 year warranty was over.

I've recently switched over to the 500 count "Canned Heat" from Georgia Arms.

.45 ACP 230 gr is $205.00 for 500 rds. That's about $0.41/rd. I'm lucky enough that I can drive there in about 40 minutes and pick up a can. Even when the web site says they are out of stock, I can call and they usually have a spare 500 rds for the local guys.

It's a little dirty (carbon residue) compared to the higher priced ammo, but it shoots good.

So, $45. per hundred for American Eagle at a gun range? #*%! Dang. So much for my good feed store price.
Yes it is.I just got a case of 500 of 45acp from Freedom for $185 {ship incl}yesterday.I will use them in my 3 yr old PCII but not in the new Ultra my gf just bought since it's still under warranty.I also get my 357/38cal at the range for $24-$29 per 50.

I'm also a fan of Freedom Arms reloads, especially when I can get them for under .40 a round. As for the LGS unless it's premium defense ammo I won't pay over .50 a round.

Though we get hosed on other things up here ammo hasn't been an issue. Last summer wife and I took trip down south and I couldn't believe the empty shelves and the price of ammo especially .22 at Walmart and other places. Almost felt guilty about how much I have and what I paid.

I only get ammo online. You might look at AmmoEngine: .38 Special, Instock For Sale Premium & Discount Ammunition, Ammo Deals to get started. Then I look at Palmetto state armory, Cabelas, Natchez, Bass Pro, Midsouth, Wideners, etc. I always look at CMP as well. You often find free shipping or $5 shipping, and no tax.

I like having lots of ammo on hand. If I feel like shooting, I don't want to have to worry about going out and finding some ammo.

Bought 3 100 round boxes of Winchester white box ammo last week:
230 grain FMJ .45 for $39 - Mills Fleet Farm
165 grain FMJ .40 for $36 - Mills Fleet Farm
115 grain FMJ 9mm for $33 - Gander Mountain

The same box of .45 I bought at Mills was $65 at Gander !!! Needles to say that exceeded my pain threshold! Going back to Mills tomorrow to see if they have any more .45 as they typically have it and our consistently the best price.

I've got a little gun shop down the road (owned by the local police chief) that's still pretty cheap. 9mm at $14 per 50 and .45 at $20 per 50. Was in Gander Mountain today and their prices were ridiculous!

$20/50 for Premium ammo? The $50 was for 100 Remington UMC. I haven't seen .40¢ premium .45 acp anywhere.

Mine is costing me about .15 but then I reload my own and I get to pick how hot or dirty they are.
