I am in the market for a new EDC gun and after weeks of research I decided on a Kimber Super Cary, this will be my first Kimber. I'm going to have to order this off the internet and not sure which one to get since I can't get my hands on them. I love the Pro but I am used to carrying a M&P shield and Springfield XDS .45. So I'm used to concealing a small gun, I'm not a big guy and I don't like wearing huge clothes to conceal. So any opinions on the super carry ultra, ultra plus or pro would be appreciated. I like the light weight, so I'm not interested in the HD version. How do they compare to the guns I carry etc... Thanks!

I have a Pro HD. But most here know that despite my affection for Kimbers I am averse to their non hard anodized alloy guns. Particularly the Pro model in 45 with as they have non ramped barrels.

If I were to buy an alloy gun in the price range of the Super Carry I would be buying a Dan Wesson Guardian or ECO.

Msummerf,

Welcome to the forum from Northern Illinois.

Lots of folks on here with the Super Carry. If you are used to carrying the XDS you would like the size and feel of the Ultra +, or for a little extra weight the Ultra HD. I have shot the HD and that is one NICE handling little pistol.

Let us know what you decide, and of course, post pictures.

My EDC is a Super Carry Ultra HD. It is a fantastic gun. Being all steel gives the balance I like for shooting. The extra weight is not that much and if you have a good holster and belt, won't bother you. I love my Stainless Pro Raptor, but the SCUHD is a fabulous EDC.

Welcome to the forum from northern Illinois Msummerf, my primary carry gun is a Super Carry Pro. I'm not a big guy myself 5'-10" 178lbs but I have no problem concealing it without resorting to extra large clothing.

I don't have any of the Super Carry models but I do have two different Ultra models three if you count the Sapphire Ultra in 9mm. You will enjoy the regular Ultra Super Carry. My usual EDC is the CDP Ultra, I don't find recoil or concealment difficult but I am bigger boned (fat) than some other members.

Oh almost forgot: Welcome to the site from Tennessee!

I have both the Super Carry Pro & Ultra, both HD. I use the ultra as my EDC for winter or heavier clothing. Otherwise I carry my Sig P238.

I am a smallish person with small hands, so I prefer the Ultra for EDC. I don't mind the extra weight of the HD at all.

I never owned a Kimber and was almost scared away by some of the negative posts I had read although we had to try on so yesterday we added a Super Carry Pro to our 1911 collection and took it to the range today firing 100 flawless
Rounds through it. All went perfect, 50 rounds of aluminum Federal and 50 perfecta both 230 grain. Mags were the one that comes with the Kimber and five 8 round Sig mags. They look like the same ones the Ruger SR1911 uses. Recently got them for $20.80 each shipped thru a sale at Sig.
To use with my Sig 1911.

Here is my 1st target 100 rounds at 10 yards. Green Gas Circle Font Machine

Thanks, I am very happy so far with my purchase. It's very typical of my 45's, commander size, light frame for CCW. We shoot 2 to 4 times a week so it won't be long before it's officially broken in and we will put it in our carry rotation.
