New member here...Hope this hasn't been discussed yet, so here goes...Bought a Kimber Super Carry Ultra +..Cleaned it right out of the box, then loaded 8 FMJ in the mag...Chambered fine...Next put in 8 Speer Gold Dot hollow point, and gun wouldn't chamber the 1st round...Took one out then tried with 7 in mag....Worked fine...Anyone had this experience, or have any thoughts?....Thanks

1911's are notoriously ammo sensitive. They were designed around FMJ bullets, and other bullet shapes can get hung up if they enter the feed ramp at the wrong angle. You may need a bullet with a more rounded profile. Change bullets, or try this.

So, obviously, keep 7 in the mag and one in the chamber. Load the mag with seven, chamber 1, and remove the mag and load another round in the magazine. Make sure you run at least 100 rounds through it to check reliability.

I also have a SCUP, I use 230 Gr. FMJ Ball ammunition. I had a few issues but all is good now. Great pistol.
Thanks....I think I might give the Hornady Critical Defense a try...They are a little more rounded on the nose...

That's what I carry in 9mm and 45. Feeds and shoots great and all my pistols. Critical Defense is for 4.5" and less barrels. Critical Duty is for 4.5"+ barrels. The gunpowder in 'Defense' is designed to fully burn in the shorter barrels. The packaging is nearly identical on the two. 'Defense' for defensive carry.

Fleamac is right on the Critical Defense ammo... I use it and Wilson Self Defense which is very similar.
Bought a box of Hornady Z Max...Same round as the Critical Defense, only with a green plug, for Zombies LOL, rather than a red plug...Chamber great...I have read nothing but positive reviews on this ammo, so think I'll trade in the Gold Dots since these work in all my 1911's.

Make sure you break it in and clean as noted in the instruction manual.
I didn't. Finally took mine to a well respected and known smith who throated the barrel , adjusted the extractor and worked on the slide stop (maybe too much). I called Kimber and they replaced the slide stop and everything now runs like a top. I use standard 230 Grain FMJ. I am confident in this round to do what it was intended. You're going to love this weapon.
Many thanks....Always keep my guns spotless...Now looking at a Stainless Ultra Raptor II..
Bought the Stainless Ultra Raptor...My carry gun now..First time shooting was great..Flawless!!

Good for you. Been looking at one myself but I promised my wife I wouldn't buy another gun. She thought three in six months were too many.

I tried to tell her when she goes to the grocery and buys toilet paper she get at least six rolls in the package. I never complain about that. She still fails to see my logic.:D
