I had a LGS inform me that since I was looking for a "good" full-sized 1911 in 10mm with an integral 1913 rail, I should look into a Dan Wesson "Specialist" (# 01815) as an alternative to the Colt Delta Elite Rail.

What do you all think? Is the Colt Delta Elite Rail worth the wait & hassle to track down, or just go with a more readily accessible Dan Wesson Specialist? I'm not aware of a Kimber 1911 in 10mm with a rail... (?)

If you want something that seriously is the bees knees..... this RIA 52000 6 inch 10mm with 17 round capacity is up there with fit to my Baer, WC and Dan Wesson Bruin.....with double the capactiy...

I own 6 P-220s in 10mm, Dan Wessons, Glocks, WC, Kimber, SO and this fit is the best with 17 rounds...

Many thanks for the input, and that certainly is a lot of "centimeter firepower". We've got one of those available here on base (the "Big Rock", I believe) but it just didn't "feel good" in my hands for some reason. I don't know if it was the steel it's made of or if it was the feel of the grip module (being a 10mm double stack). I've never owned or shot a RIA/Armscor anything, primarily because I've always just went with Kimber, Springfield, or S&W for 1911s. We've also got a 5" single stack 10mm 1911 model of it. I'll head back to check them out again this weekend and try to be more "open minded" with them.

@AIRB0RNE6176 I was very close minded until this $1000 gun had the same fit as my $3600 pistol with 9 more rounds...... Its heavy....sights are very very good and I dont say amazing yet bc I don't like fiber optics however (these are impressive)

its a hefty mamma... mine is the Big Rock and i mistakenly remember the gun not having a good feel but this gun does.....only downfall is something easily fixable (Parkerized Finish) I plan on sending this to get a DLC finish and front strap checkering
....forgot to mention the trigger......3.9lbs out the box it will only get better.....6 thumbs up

I don't mind the weight/heft, especially with 10mm ammo. Have you had the chance to try any hard cast ammo from Underwood or Buffalo Bore (or any other hot/heavy 10mm ammo)?

A Delta Elite bundle that was worked over by Nighthawk Customs, extra .40cal barrel. It looks great.
Draw back it is over your stated budget.

Well, this arrived and was quickly picked up today by myself at my on base FFL. Transfer came in a full two days early (Dan Wesson Specialist 10mm 1911). I'm still looking for the Delta Elite w/ Rail, and I'll get a closer look at the Rock Islands this weekend. Thanks to all thus far. More to follow...
