I've heard good things about it, but I'd prefer a S&W or a Glock. YMMV.

We've got a couple of guys that hang out at my local range that really like them, they have at least 1 of every model/caliber Springfield makes. I've had a chance to shoot them and they seemed like good guns.

Personally I think real guns are made out of metal, save the plastic for Tupperware and Rubbermaid. Now before you jump all over me that's just my personal opinion, that doesn't mean that companies making plastic guns turn out bad products. My son and daughter in law are Glock owners but that's just because they can't afford Kimbers. :D

I have an XDs 9mm and I like it. I only have about 400 rounds through it as it was out for the recall for a few months. My wife doesn't like the trigger, says it feels too gritty to her. I don't mind the trigger at all and it should smooth out some after I put more rounds through it. If you are like Chuck and prefer metal guns you may want to look at the Sig P938 which is basically a mini 1911 in 9mm. We just ordered one of those for the Mrs. and if I like it we may end up with his and hers. :D My wife really likes her XDm full size and XDm compact. Many people aren't happy that the gun was recalled or that their triggers came back a different weight. Over on the XD forum there are lots of complainers but plenty of people that are happy and some even happier. It is a good time to score a deal on a used XDs from one of the disenchanted folks. If you do buy used here is what you need to look for in order to know if it has been through the recall or not.

Any you buy through a dealer should have gone through the recall. There also is a new 4" barrel version that is supposed to be available starting today that if I was going to buy a new one would interest me.
