The shop that's selling the new Colt I'm looking at also has a used Ultra Aegis, which as many here know is similar to the Ultra Carry with a bit more cosmetic treatment. It's been there a while because they want too much for it. I think it's probably on consignment and the owner is upside down on it.

I would try to deal and make and offer on the Aegis Ultra, I feel it would be a notch above a Ultra Carry. I can say that cause I have a Stainless Ultra Carry 9mm that I paid 600 for used but it has been perfect since the first range session.
If this is a older version Aegis I think it would be a good buy. Of course I’d probably buy the Colt to.
I get the want something different, try something else, a while back instead of the Defender I bought a 9mm Colt Commander also for 6bills and it came with 2 magazines…

Don’t wait too long to grab that Colt. You won’t regret buying it.
I asked the guy at the counter to make me a deal for the Kimber Aegis and the Colt and he said only the owner can do that. So I asked where the owner was. He shrugs. I ask if he can call him. He says no. Then it was my turn to shrug. No sale. But I have to go that way on Saturday so I'll give it another try. There are others on my short list. I can be patient.

Once I look around and get an idea of what the fair market price is, that's my number. If the shop doesnt want to meet that or otherwise sweeten the deal, I walk. There's nothing that I just gotta have right now.

I should have recorded the S/N on the Kimber. Didn't do it. I'm going to call and talk to the shop owner before Saturday and make an offer.

I hate trying to deal with a flunky that is not allowed to make a decision and complete a sale!

Yes. The guy was a Chumley.

There’s a huge shop I like that claims to be the largest in the state. Smart people on staff but it’s really a long haul to get there. With the price of fuel, it adds up.

The rest anywhere near me are mom and pop places. The small shops are very reluctant to deal. I’ve shifted to mostly buying online. But I really don’t like paying the transfer fees and shipping. Often that’s the difference in price between online and local. So they gotcha coming or going.

Surprisingly, the best gun shops and ranges I have ever experienced were in Seattle. Go figure. The state is politically left of Lenin. I still sell guns I no longer want thru my former FFL there.

I called the shop yesterday to make sure they still had the Colt and got the owner on the phone. He proceeds to tell me that the price of the Defender is $200 more than it was in the display case. I asked him to check that and he says "I don't need to". I let that go without comment and offered to make a deal on both the Aegis and the Colt. He immediately says "no way" without hesitation.

I told him to f-off and hung up. Oh well. No skin off my adz. He can keep both guns. The world is full of guns and gun dealers who aren't buttheads. I'm going to hold on the Defender now and take a close look at the new Springfield race gun.

There is a Defender for sale on 1911Addicts forum but it is a .45acp and I know you want the 9mm model.

That man does not want to sell guns or retain customers. I would never buy anything from him again.

What was he asking for the Colt if you don’t mind me asking?
I have a grand each for mine.
It was marked $1100 and when I called to verify it was not sold before I made the trip it suddenly went to $1300. As they say in Russia... nyet.
I never did meet the owner face to face so I have no idea what his game plan was. I'm not sure he has one. Just a poor businessman.

You know... that's the funny thing. I buy and sell a fair number of guns every year. You think he would want that business. I guess not. I've reached the point in my life where I don't suffer fools or people who have a stick in their adz about something. Best to just walk away and forget it. That shop will never see me again.

Rocks are pretty decent guns for the money. I’ve had a couple of them come and go. No shorty 1911s though. I like my S&W officers. I really want a good one in 9mm. BULs are hard to find. I’ve seen some used but the seller was asking way more than it’s worth. Magnum Research is the best option on availability. BUL makes them. Defenders in 9mm are also in short supply and that has jacked the price.

I’m not seeking another Kimber in this category.
