I just purchased a new Kimber Hunter Pro in 6.5 Creedmoor. I bought the Talley Precision Base/ Ring combo to mount a Burris 4.5 x 14 x 42 scope. I was browsing through forums and read atca few different places about the front base screw being to long and hitting harrel threads. This was something i noticed mostly dated in 2017 with a couple years before and after being affected. I was wanting to know is this something that has been corrected as of now in 2023 or it is still a problem that the screw needs shortened? Thank you

Rick thanks. I ended up buying my son a rwin to my rifle. Another Kimber Hunter Pro. Same rings. I measured with some calibers and it is .146 from surface to the bottom where barrel threads are. I then measures how much screw length was extended from bottom of the base and it was .109. So that told me that the length to barrel thread was longer than the screw end to engage.
I have done barrel breakin on my rifle. I have shot 3 different groups and all 3 were sub moa. So im going go ahead and hunt with it and if i become suspect of rhe issue i will dismount the scope and grind down the screw. But if my tactics are correct then it would seem to suggest that the issue has been fixed. Thanks for your reply.
