Has anyone tried this red dot with the R7 Mako? If so any problems mounting it?

I'd just skip the scope on my pocket concealed carry......

Meh.

I prefer a dot, especially now that my old eyes have trouble focusing on the target and the front sight at the same time.

40 yards isn't even as far as the long aisles in a Walmart.
Being able to hit the A zone in real world scenarios with your pocket pistol is an advantage.

Rethinking SD scenarios is sometimes required to actually stay safe.

Most of us aren't at risk of being mugged by a lone robber at an ATM anymore.

Every few months there is a nutjob shooting
up a store, mall, crowded event...etc.

The Eli Dicken shooting woke me up.

A tiny bit of situational awareness will prevent those dark alley/late night ATM muggings altogether.

We are far more likely to encounter mass shooting type event at a store or public area.
There are tons of examples we can learn from.

Most are not 7yard encounters anymore.

My CCW with a dot at least gives me a real chance if I need to end a threat at the other end of the cereal aisle.

I AM familiar with the Mecanik 01 . . . It came with my Canik METE SFT. I only have a few hundred rounds through it and it ticks most of the boxes for me. It is a decent red dot for the money. But I haven't installed it on a Mako (don't have one) so I can't speak to that or any mounting issues.
Currently I have experience with and own the Burris Fastfire I and III, Bushnell First Strike and RXS-100, and Holosight 407K and 407C, as well as the Mecanik 01.

Never heard of those but they are certainly affordable.

I have a dot on that Aegis of mine and it's fun to shoot but I have not practiced so it is quite a bit slower for me
to get it on target vs just iron sights.

I completely understand Ninja at his advanced age, eyes, appendages, none of them work like they used to.
